Default !Air system(quick ?)

Im installing some headers(no emissions) and i was wondering if i should pull the fuses for the air pump when i pull the hoses and everything or should i leave them in so i dont throw a code, i have heard that some people have pulled it and never gotten a code, its a 01 WS6, also what do i do with the air check valve?, plug the vaccum connections and leave the electrical connector hooked up? Thanks in advance

Just pull it all out and pretend you don't see the code. The electrical connetor I just tie wrapped out of the way. There was 1 vaccum hose that I had to plug with a screw though, It is right behind the intake you will know what I mean when you start taking it out.

You can try pulling the fuses, but i dont beleive it will help with not throwing a code.

I have a 2000 Z28 and have only gotten codes for my EGR and have never gotten one for my AIR. This was according to my handheld programmer and my EFIlive.

The air pump is not connected to any sensors to throw a code. Most people remove EGR and AIRr on 98-99-00 and when they throw a code it is an EGR code and not an AIR code.

I don't think thats quite true. I've removed the AIR from my car and every time I start her up it throws an air code. Sorry I can't think of the code # off the top of my head.

The AIR system will throw code. PN409 maybe? I know its PN40X, sorry I can't be more specific. It's the AIR Injection Malfunction code. Your car may not throw a code right away, but it should. You can pick up a predator tuning tool, and delete it from there. Or you can go to autozone, and have them delete the code for you. As stated above, tie wrap the electrical connector out of the way, and throw a screw in that vacuum hose, and you will be set.

I got a code as well but it can be removed from tuning. I am so used to seeing the check engine light now in every car I'm in it doesnt bother me. Seems like you can spit on a damn motor nowadays and set a code

I'd be interested if there is a resistor too. I've been putting it off until I were to get my headers but if there is a resistor that will prevent it from throwing a code I'll remove it now.

Hmmm, mine never threw a code, and I have no cats but with simms.
The trick is to identify the code thrown so we all get the right info. I'm curious now.
