Default Magnaflow or SLP 2otl?

I've been trying to decide between the Magnaflow cat-back and the SLP 2otl kit. Both are similarly priced, both are stainless steel, I've only heard sound clips of them on the 'net (never in real), both seem to make great power, and I'm not crazy about the tips on either kit. Which one would you choose and why?

If you have any sound clips, please post them!

Hmmm...personal decision...if I were you I would go with the magnaflow its a great flowing system and great sounding...you could always go with the SLP LM. Good Luck

Another vote for the SLP 2OTL.
If I had to go with another catback, 2OTL would be my choice. But I have 3" duals planned for the near future instead.

Why do you want to go with the 2otl? I have the LM and I love it! I have never heard a Magnaflow. Plus, you can get the Loudmouth from T-Byrne for $330.00.

some people prefer a system that flows decent and sounds good, not too loud
I used to be for a loud *** exhaust, now im the opposite
so I vote for the 2OTL also

sLP 2OTL!!!! Sounds good and looks good. I don't think the Magnaflow "style" tips look good on a camaro. I bought a used Borla and love it to death.

Magnaflow sounds great!! I've never heard SLP 2OTL and everyone says that it's the quietest catback for the ls1 other then stock. The tips on the magnaflow are the downfall of the system especially on the Z. On any of the catback systems you can't go wrong. I searched for a long time for sound clips and found a lot and decided from those. Stay away from flowmaster though.

The SLP 2OTL is a great sounding/looking catback. I've never heard the magnaflow but I can't stand the way the pipes look. The 2OTL has got to be lighter also, if that matters at all.

Thanks for the replies and votes everyone! I haven't been considering the LM exhaust because I used to have an HCI Mustang with LT's, no cats, and a loud cat-back too and it became pretty annoying after a short time. I'm trying to avoid making that same mistake this time! Thanks for the mention though. I've actually been researching exhaust systems for a long time now and have narrowed the choice down to these two.

For those of you who have heard both, which one is louder? Also, does anybody know where I can find more clips of the 2otl kit? I've only been able to find two clips, both from Bambeezer on one of the other boards.

WILWAXU, I used to live in Hampton and we have some mutual acquaintances: Keith Moore and John with the black TRYMY Z plates. John and I raced like a week after I got the heads/cam on my Mustang, I also used to run the HRR message board for a few years. I sold the Mustang and bought the '98 Z after moving to Northern VA though! Talk with ya later...

I have had both. Magnaflow is louder. However, I liked the 2OTL system much better. But I got sick of how it looked on my T/A rear bumper, and I decided I wanted something louder (this isn't my daily driver) so I sold it and went Bassani.

Between 2OTL and Magnaflow, I'd vote 2OTL.

Maganaflow, I just bought the muffler and brought it to my exhaust buy and he did 3 inch from my y pipe (mandrel) to the muffler then cut/bend and put 2 1/2 pipes out the muffler and welded my stock tips on them . Looks like stock but doesnt sound like it. and it only cost me 250.00 with the muffler out the door.

I had SLP 2 otl exhaust on my old 96 LT1 SS and it sounded so much better than Hooker or flowmaster. It was nearly as loud as the loudmouth, but slightly more composed. With out a doubt I would go with the 2otl setup, however, the only downside (I mean the only concievable downside) is the somewhat goofy appearance of the exiting tips on the left. Keep in mind that my experience with 2otl was on an LT1, but I couldn't imagine it would sound very different from an LS1. I currently own a '00 SS and I am also in the market a nice catback. I'll probably go with the SLP DUAL SIDE, DUAL OUTLET STAINLESS SYSTEM. I have heard that it sounds identical to the 2 otl design. I'm not looking forward to paying the $580.00 price tag though.

Anyone have any comments on the SLP DUAL SIDE, DUAL OUTLET STAINLESS SYSTEM??????

http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/96ss/96ss.htm

check that site for a good sound clip of the SLP 2 otl setup. Again...its an LT1, but it'll give you a good idea. What's this talk about SLP 2 otl being quiet on an LS1. Someone please tell me more.

The 2OTL on an LS1 won't sound nearly as good as it does on the LT1. And yeah, system for system, the LS1 is always quieter in comparison (especially at idle and during cruise). BTW, the SLP dual/dual is noticeably quieter than the 2OTL. The dual/dual sounds STOCK!

Judging by how good your old LT1 sounded, I'd strongly recommend the GMMG as it is one of the few set-ups (along with Mufflex & true duals) that I personally think makes our motor sound good/tough...

SLP dual/dual is nearly as quiet as stock. It sounds NOTHING like the 2OTL. I should know, I had a dual/dual system right after my 2OTL. 2OTL sounded far better, IMO.

The only reason to buy a dual/dual is for flow. If your purpose is louder sound, you will be disappointed....
