Default Alright. WTF?!

Alright. In the past few months I have done some modding to my car. The following mods were added.

1. QTP longtubes
2. QTP catted Y
3. Ported Ls6 intake (upgrade from my ls1)
4. Ported and Polished Throttle Body
5. Emissions deletes. (!AIR, !EGR, !Rear O2s)

The car runs like **** which is what i would have guessed because it has no exhaust, just the catted Y and that's it. Also I suspect the car having a factory tune is not very beneficial either.

All of that aside, I keep having this same problem and has left me stranded twice now and i'm not sure if it is because of the lack of an exhaust and or tune, or if something is really wrong. Here is the best description I can come up with:

The car will start fine if it has been sitting, fires up every time on a cold start. Interestingly, If I let the car warm up for a while, get in, and drive for a while and then stop and get gas for example, when I try and start the car after turning it on, nothing happens. the starter just cranks and cranks and cranks... the engine floods and i have to wait a while before i climb back inside and begin with the starter and after putting the pedal to the floorboard and then it finally started.

from this terrible description, does anyone want to take a stab at what may be happening? maybe just a tune issue or something bigger? any feedback would be appreciated, THANKS

you should be able to drive with an open ypipe no problem. i did it with just an 18" bullet directly behind the ypipe merge...

none of those mods should make you drive so horribly that the stock tune won't work just fine. it may not be ideal, but it shouldn't cause your issues.

i would check into your 02 sensors, they may be going out, or burned through a wire or something.

are you SURE you aren't getting the VATS security light when you try to restart it? that takes 3 mins to turn off.

yeah, no security lights... and I didn't think about the o2 sensors.. its almost like when the car is trying to start, the spark plugs aren't igniting or something

I had a similar problem earlier this year. Check into your Coolant temp sensor. It is located by the drivers side head before the very first header bolt. You may have fired the wire, broke it during the install r it could have just gone bad. I think a new sensor only costs like $15. Goodluck.

haha....sometimes the simple things.

but yeah...if your o2s were flooding the engine with fuel, the plugs could be fouled..hence the trouble you were having on the 2nd start up.

worth looking into them

How long you planning on running open headers? That will fry your o2s real quick.
