All you had to do was pull the plastic part off and cut out the rectangles? and is there a simple write up on fabbing up a home-depot ram air duct?

I ran the free ram air set up for a while (a year or so). While, in traffic, the intake temps were high, I didn't really notice a problem in how the car ran.

However, once I got a FTRA set up, it was MUCH better. No overheating issues (coolant temp is/was right around 192-195) and throttle response is much improved.

This basically makes a hot air intake, which does bring in hot air. When coupled with something like a SSRA it helps and gets rid of all that hot air.

I used the SLP ram air kit. Just be sure not to go thru any deep puddles. It will suck water in quick. If you make your own don't make it go to low.

The only problem cutting it like that is that your IAT reads really high due to the heat coming off the radiator. I'd recomend getting the scoop to fix that issue that you will with out a doubt have....
