I don't know about the MAF, but you need something with a 4" diameter to fit over the TB.

I never said a stock throttlebody wasnt bigger than 3", I said ive used Fernco 3" couplers on all my f bodies and they fit...rubber stretches. There cheap and get the job done if someone thinks the stock bellow isnt good enough. I personally think its a placebo effect and the stock one works fine. But I like little projects like this when I get bored.

i just did this on my LT1 ram air setup. and yes you can use the 3 inch to 3 inch coupler for both LS and LT throttle bodies. the rubber stretches very easily once you boil it

I tried the Fernco, and find it hard to believe that you made the 3” fit. I used a 4” and boiled it to make it softer when I put it on, but there is no way that I could have made it stretch another inch. The 4” was difficult to get on and there is no way I could have done it with a 3”.

Like I said before, if vanveldhuizenc wants a silicone hose, 4” is the way to go.

Im sorry you find it hard to believe a 3" can fit but judging from your short car mod list and age...its not tough to assume youd have trouble getting a 3" to fit....I was putting on mods and owned an f body before you were 10....HITMAN above was able to get a 3" to fit as well....hmmm what a mystery...

I had major issues using the fernco, tried every possible way to fit it on there without it slipping or popping off etc. Bought a cheap used egay bellow. No problems ever since then. I think engine mounts and other things play a factor honestly, if you think about it.

Then post up some pics of this beast! If you are so "experienced" in car modding, then why would you purchase a 3" coupler for a 4" TB when a 4" coupler is sitting right next to it?

I have a fernco fitting on my car 3''-4'' coupler. I had to do a little trimming to the fitting and my granetelli lid is just fine.

I just put on an slp lid and was curious myself as to do this mod or not. I guess I'll just stick with the factory one for noe.

Im running the Fernco mod for 3 years now, no issues what so ever. No cracked lid nothing popping off or fitment issues. I simply followed a write up that I found and took my time to get it to fit right and that was it. I spent a whopping $7.00 and its worth every penny. I noticed a difference way up in the RPM band but barely. I also noticed a slightly better throttle response. If I had to guess I would say the *** dyno calls for 3-4 hp. The key and trick is to take your time with the grinding part of it. Keep putting it on and off till its perfect. If all else fails you cleaned up your engine bay and caught a buzz while wasting an hour.

Just put some duct tape all the way around the inside of the stock bellow and call it a day. Cut it to where it tucks under the last fold on both ends. Smooth "free" bellow ftmfw!

i have a slp smooth bellow, i got it for a good price, never had problems with it, i think it looks better than stock imo, doesnt add any noticable power maybe a hp or 2 so inless you can get it for a really good deal i wouldn bother and just keep the stock bellow.

Quick Reply: Fernco, home depot, lowes, etc, smooth bellow's. Pro's and Con's?
