Default What QUIET mufflers for my 3inch duals?

I'm looking for a new set of mufflers for my 3inch duals. The car is SICK loud right now with the bullets and turndowns set at 45deg. It's a H/C LT1 with hooker long tubes.

What I want is something that will be a dramatic decrease in noise and allow myself to come home at 3am without everyone on my block wishing I was dead

Thanks

Andy

Haha, I have to coast in from 2 blocks away.
Try Borla Xr-1's or XS, Magnaflow, or Hooker Maxflow's (if there's room for the latter).

ultraflos or magnaflows are somewhat quiet. Getting them to fit is the hard part.

I use dynomax. I have ultraflos and they are kinda loud still, but way quiet compared to bullets. If you would like to really cut down on the noise, you could go with dynomax super turbos. They will knock the noise level way down.

SLP Dual/Dual is very quiet.
That's why I just upgraded mine to the GMMG.

I say keep the bullets BUT if you want to upgrade go with a small dynomac ultra flow(maybe the round or oval ones) but small.

I have the Eldebrocks, and they are quiet enough that I can hear the radio & still talk on the phone while in the car. Not quite as quiet as I had wished, but I could run cats & quiet it down even more.

IMO, If you want quiet go with a stock mufler setup and dual electronic cutouts right after the headers. That way, open ("dual") headers at the flip up a switch, that will give you some good gains & loud sound when you want it, and quiet when you dont.

You could run just offroad pipe Y into Flowmaster 2 into 1 into a 3.5" or 4" Bullet, for those times when you are going to the track & are worried about the weight. Or stay with the above setup & just put 3 bolt flanges right after the cutout, so you can unbolt the pipe from the cutout.

I'm happy with the Eldebrocks used on my true dual setup.

My spintechs are bearable, I can keep it somewhat quiet as long as I dont get a leadfoot.

I don't have any sound clips but I just bought a really nice digital camera that allows for multimedia...so I might whip somthing up.

It's not that the car is really loud, (although it is loud) its the vibration and "reverberation," not sure how to explain it, that bothers me. The sound just consumes every ounce on silence.

Xr-1's are pretty quiet. Run the pipes to the rear instead of dumping at the axle. That should help a lot.

Are you running cats? If so, you don't have to worry about flow as much, since the cats will be the bottleneck in the system.

Hooker and Magnaflow are among the quiet ones, where are you planning on putting them?
