Default What are the best headers?

I decided to try this. Lets say that we are looking for power, not cost. Why do you prefer this header over others? Also consider tube design, tube size availibilty, tube length, collector designs, etc.

The best headers for the ls1 now are the Kooks and QTP headers. The are equal lenght and stanless steel. Try the search feature this topic has been discussed numerous of times.

I heard FLP were the best headers made for our cars?..... Overpriced of course, but still the best nonetheless...

FLPs are up there but most people go Kooks because they're cheaper. The HP difference should be negligible...

Also, I dropped over half a second by installing Pacesetters and ORYP.....Apparantly buying inexpensive headers doesn't kill performance!!!

The FLP's may be a little more expensive than the Kooks, but the FLP's come with everything that you need to do the install including Cats & Test pipes if you don't want to run the cats. The Kooks are a whole lot more expensive if you figure in all the parts to make a complete system like with the FLP's.

Kooks or QTP's are the top of the class & I understand Thunder Racing makes some that are pretty much like the QTP's.

yeah i keep hearing QTP's are top notch with the kooks and the flp's are also good. i have pacesetters and i think for half the price and only losing a few, maybe 5, ponies over the other headers it is worth it. i can take that extra money i saved and put it in something else that can give me 20 more hp, the same price for only 5 hp...but if u want the best i think its pretty much staring u in the face, lol QTP's

Kooks ss headers are the best, no question about it! Then followed by qtp. The kooks y pipe has about 1/2 more ground clearace then most others. Dynotech has some new ss headers any y pipe coming out in about 2 weeks. These should be pretty equal with the kooks. For the lt setup it will be about $1300. They will also be the only company that uses a ss y pipe, all others are alumnized steel.

One more thing, if money wasn't an issue I would go with the Kooks. They even make stepped pipe headers, so you can have the headers maximized to your needs. But my cheap *** went for the Pacesetters & don't regret it at all.

Yes....Pacesetters are a hell of a deal. But I didn't mind spending the extra money on my car. Well worth it to me. I did look into the Pacesetters before the Kooks deal came up. FLP's were my second choice as it is a complete kit as mentioned above.

I have the Thunder Racing long tubes. They basically are the same as the QTP. They are a very nice set of headers.

I would say QTP with merge collectors. The difference between them and something cheap like Pacesetters is minor in the performance department. For ease of changing Cats, then FLP is the best.I run them and love them.(there was only FLP and SLP out when I bought them)

I have to put in my vote for QTP headers. I have their 1 3/4 SS headers and they are very nice quality. I say if you want the absolute best it would either be the QTP or Kooks, they are basically the same design. If you don't want the cream of the crop i would say you probably wouldn't lose very many ponies with the pacesetters and for the price it would be hard to turn down.

Is anyone running the Dynatech Race headers with the high velocity merge collectors? I have really began to like them. I like the collectors better than any I have seen so far.

Quite honestly you cant know without comparing them yourself. There are just to many variables to tell. But what will the best set buy you? 5 maybe 10 hp? For the money you cant go wrong with the pacesetters. Use the extra 400 dollars you'll save to feed the poor or something.
