Gauges flipping out.

Gauges flipping out. Not exactly sure if this is the right sub-forum for this, but here goes. A week ago this started, whenever I start the car, the tachometer and speedometer peg over as far as they can go. They then both slowly head back to zero. A few seconds after the hit zero all of the gauges come on an go to their normal reading.
This has never happened, and all of a sudden a week ago it started, without any changes to anything. Any experts know what this oddity means? I tried searching around but couldn't find a good way to search for this problem.

Ah yes... This is a very common problem with the 99's. Mine does it everytime it starts. I think the fix was to replace the battery, and it's more common when it's cold outside. There is a thread about somewhere, I will see if I can find it. I'm getting a new battery on Friday to hopefully fix it.

Hey thanks for the link man. I also found somewhere else where it was talking about a technical service bulletin with the 99 cars, and the gauge cluster had to be replaced. I guess there may be two causes for it?

I've seen my tachometer not work. It just sits at 0. It did this 3 or 4 startups one day and that's it. I never saw it do it before that and have never seen it do it since. This was probably 4 months ago. It broke then fixed itself.
