Default Best heads for 346 ?

Hey guys I have $2000-$2300 to spend on heads but don't know or think i need to spend that much for the best power gains. I have mods in sig and will have FAST 92/92 along with a Futral Motorsports F-14 Highlift (fly cut pistons). I was thinking Advanced Induction LS6 heads.. BUT Trick Flow might be the right decision ? Help me figure this out guys. My car is not a DD but does see some weekend street abuse. I will be at the track also. Thanks!

OK it sounds like the TFS 215's might be the way to go. So who has the best price on these ?

Also, should I just use these right out of the box or do they need any port work ? What about springs ?

I'm going with the Futral Motorsports F-14 Highlift cam and am fly cutting the pistons. Should I mill the heads a little for more compression ?

What pushrods should I go with ?

TFS heads are $2400 plus another $4-500 on a set of roller rockers. I purchased a set of stage 2 LS6 heads from TEA that have similar flow #'s to the trickflows for $1800 which would leave you a few hundred left over.

Hey thanks guys!

Something else for me to think about:

And just something to think about, TSP Stage 2.5 5.3L heads would make very similar power - and in fact have done right around 450-460 with an MS3 (just about the same size as a VRX5) and stock FAST. Mill those heads, port the FAST, and run the thinner gasket and you'd see 480 out of those combos too.

I have those heads and I wouldn't mention them in the same breath as TFS, AFR, ETP/Performance Induction or even the TSP 215's. They are nice for a budget head but comparing them to a proprietary casting is apple and oranges.

LMAO at 480 on 5.3's

I would just have your stock heads CNC ported. They will flow the same if not more than the aftermarket heads.

TEA ls6 stage 2 or better. It will save you a substantial amount of money. But trickflow are great heads.

My opinion on how heads stack up as far as performance goes..
Tickflow 215s
TEA stage 2 ls6
TSP 215/227
AFR 205
prc ls6 stage 2
I personaly would not buy 5.3s but thats just me, i agree with SOMbitch i think 480 with 5.3s is pretty funny too.

Ron@VengeanceRacing is an authorized dealer for TFS heads. He can also answer all your questions. The heads and RR's will be a little above your budget of 2300 though. Save for another month and then pick them up.

He might wanna go for some as cast TFS 220's. Within a few cfm's of the CNC'ed and $2100 will get them including the rockers........

I agree but the OP did say "BEST" and IMHO TFS 215's would be best.

Picking up the "as cast" tfs 220's would be a great second option. Save a few bucks and only lose several hp. Fair trade off.

Keep an eye out for people selling heads. V Series Tech just sold a set of afr 205's for 1800.00 shipped !! Great deal ! They were completely freshened by AFR and hadn't been re-installed yet. So keep your eyes open in the F/S section as well, good deals.

Brian @ TEA can "touch up" the 220's for a good deal and still be within your budget. I was going to go this route but totaled the car. Deck the heads to your desired compression and you're set.
