Edelbrock makes one that flows 20% more IIRC but it is like $350+ and Evans make a good one too..... They are so easy to change though even witth all the accessories on I would wait till it goes bad....

^ I'm personally waiting for a cheaper EWP. Mezere is WAAAAAY too expensive for a pump. Taking parasitic drag FROM the engine is always good, which ever way you slice it..

I replaced mine with one from autozone with no problems at all. I also replaced all the idle tensioner pulleys while I was at it, and a new t-stat. So far so good.

Stick with your stock water pump unless your really rich and can afford it. Not worth the money if you ask me. I got my autozone waterpump with lifetime warranty so i will never need to buy another one ever again

My vote is for the EWP. 4 yrs running and the improved gas mileage has probably shaved a good chunk the initial cost. If it lasts a couple more years I'll consider it a break even or better purchase. (20,000 miles and no issues) Just guess-estimated the actually savings and its only about 200 so far, so I guess its gong to be about 8 more years before I break even. Oh well, I still like it and love how the car revs more freely with less load on the motor. Runs cooler on the street, especially in those times I've been caught in bumper to bumper traffic due to construction. Unlike many people saying they can't maintain cool temps at High RPMS, I must disagree. My car has seen 200 mph quite a few times, and I go out and run with my friends. Never once has the car ran any hotter. Always a nice consistent 167 to 169 when cruising, and I did see 180 on an extended run with sustained high rpms. Best example, 100* day and stuck in traffic due to construction. A/C on full blast and sitting for over 30 mins, car heated to 190 a couple times and then went right back to 167. Pretty good IMO.

it really boils down to money.

whether or not you feel $500 for a waterpump and 10hp is worth it.

AGREED. Lifetime warranty is a plus. Not worth it in my opinion to change to aftermarket unless you have the money, as others have said. Better off spending in other mods

I would do EWP Meizer. I love mine. Digital temp gauge hardly ever moves, looks great under the hood. More HP.

IMO there are special circumstances where an EWP is beneficial to the totality of the system, but for most of us the very high cost for a questionable 5-10rwhp with an EWP is better spent on other mods.

For example springing for a more expensive set of heads over a budget set will get you significantly better hp gains than the 5-10 hp you will get from an EWP. Or $600 for a sticky set of tires, suspension mods, or drag shocks are all in the price range of an EWP and IMO get you much more bang for the buck.

Since we spend 90 percent of the time driving in the 2-3000 rpm range - I might be mistaken - but don't think that's where the 5-10 hp gain is. The gain is at the top end.

BTW - I had an EWP and sold it at 50 percent off and used it for other mods that were more cost effective. + I doubt it would have lasted 100 - 150 k miles or more like a mechanical pump will.

I replaced it with an autozone with lifetime warranty. I get 565 to the rear wheel so 5 hp isn't a big deal.

In short - use your current pump or get a new mechanical pump and use the money for other things.

Had a couple friends that had electric water pumps. Only got 3rwhp and the other 4rwhp at the dyno. Waste of money. I rather spend it on a used Nitrous kit and with the left over money take the wife to dinner IMO. GL on your choice...Antonio.
