Default Metal Crossbrace that goes under the exhaust

So my exhaust touches this crossbrace slightly, and i have been trying to come up with an idea to make it stop hitting when accelerating. I have adjusted my exahust a couple times, but the fitment is really close, and i cant get it to clear more than an 1/8th of an inch. I saw a pic today of someone who had removed the brace completely. Is this ok to do? what is this brace for anyway? if this brace serves no real purpose, ill just go under the car and take it out, then my problem will be solved.

Any input would be awesome, thanks.

Get rid of that brace. it does nothing for rigidity....take it in your hand and twist on it. It is VERY easy to make it flex. Then think to yourself how that piece can possible being making your car more rigid....

People have been throwing that piece away since this platform was first released!

Well this is good to know haha. Is there any benefit really in replacing it with one of the more solid pieces that are sold?

get rid of the brace and put a drive shaft loop in. You will get the clearance for your exhaust u need and some added saftey as well.

I agree with mystic - especially since you take it to the track. I have a BMR, good clearance for the exhaust:
