Default Catted headers vs un-catted

I hear theres a good hp increase from going with uncatted headers vs catted

Right now im running catted 1 7/8 kooks, and I hear I could squeeze out at least a extra 10 hp just from getting rid of the cats.

My other mods are in my sig.

What do you guys think?

On a street car I would keep the cats, not worth the trouble for a few hp. Cats also can make the exhaust sound better. There are a number of threads where people put the cats back on to get rid of rasp.

+1 on that. An with cats you won't have any gas smell or at least not nearly as much as you would without cats.

I've had the same headers with cats and without, the exhaust note of the un-catted is much louder. However if you have to deal with emissions just go with the catted versions, you won't notice a power difference. +1 on the horrible smell without cats, it blows ***.

To much rasp w/o cats generally, and the exhaust smell is a dead give away. My uncle originally went catless, and within 2 wks, was catted. lol

I tested a 500hp engine with and without Dyatech cats, there was a 3-4hp difference. Keep the cats..

I couldn't agree more... plus you lose a little weight, have 2 less O2 sensors to replace, and can get some money back on the cats... emissions are over rated!

I have been an EPA National Emission Compliance Investigator for 6 years, we are currently investigating and charging all non-compliant registered passenger vehicles (Owners) in the Continental U.S.

As a fellow car enthusiast this is a very hard job, but it is the Law.

Yes Sir! The only problem with my investigation is that I would have to charge myself.

Just messing around. I knew it wouldn`t take long for someone to jump on that reply. No cats here and the smell is not to bad unless the car is running in the garage, then your eyes will melt.

Winter and cabin fever are driving me nuts, just having a little fun.

Ha if he actually took the time to track me down on here.. then somehow find my car which isn't even stored at my house and to do an emissions test in a state that doesn't require I would allow you to fine me just for attempting the impossible..

I dont realy have to worry about emissions, the smell might bother me alittle but the people behind me will ahte me more.

If it would only gain 3-4hp I guess ill just leave them on.

Trust me , you can relax. I'm no investigator for anybody, but I might be an instigator sometimes. Just having a little fun.
