Hey Steve, yes, a new thread was created to further discuss other coils to allow this one to stay on its original topic, swapping to truck coils.

Please feel free to share and discuss about other coils over there.

Sorry for any confusion, these things usually go smoother!

I have a new set Holley 241-112 tall valve cover that work with my Jesel (1.8) LS7 shaft rockers. The D585 AcDelco truck ignition will not work with this valve cover due to the bolts angle pattern for the ignition coils.
https://www.holley.com/products/acce.../parts/241-112). I need some LS3/LS7 ignition coils that will work perfect for this valve cover. Do anybody know the next best thing in ignition coils like the (AcDelcoD585/GM10457730).ignition coils. Here are some of the aftermarket version of ignition coils that will work with the bolt pattern and angle of the Holley 241-112 tall valve cover.

I’m currently having spark blowout at 1200tire with my stock ls1 coils and dwell times. Is there still gains to be had as far as a stronger spark without changing the dwell times? I’m worried it will affect the spark timing and don’t want to have to change ign timing in tune to compensate.

Depends what dwell times you are now, and change them too.

But if you're using the old more square LS1 coils, almost any newer OEM coil will be an easy upgrade with no downsides.

And no, it will not affect spark timing

After my LS3 engine rebuild last year, the original '98 coil harnesses were looking very tired, so I bought a pair of 12582190 harnesses from Rock Auto. But they are a different design, placing them at the bottom of the coil. I already tossed the original coil harnesses, but I don't really want the new coil harnesses in that location, so now I'm wondering about upgrading just to make it look more organized. I'm using Firecore50 LS1 standard length ignition wires and have removed the AIR system.

Are these the latest round coils from GM?
https://sdparts.com/i-24104131-sdpc-...-pack-kit.html

Would these be the appropriate brackets to use between my LS3 valve covers and the new coils that allow optimum fitment between the remainder of the old LS1 components in that vicinity? If not, what's the best solution with minimal fabrication?
https://sdparts.com/i-24096323-acdel...-12580353.html

Do I still use 12601824 (or it's superseded PN) for the coil harnesses? Anything I'm overlooking regarding fitment or additional parts?

IMO just buy a set of good known genuine GM takeoffs complete with wiring/brackets etc.

that’s what I did and luckily they are wired the same way as the older coils. I wasn’t worried about the shape of the plug because they were the same I just wasn’t sure if they were wired the same. If they weren’t then I probably would have had an engine fire if the coil was wired backwards.

The harness from the 7 pin sumitomo connector are wired the same, although obviously earlier/later coils use a different plug

So, the harness on the truck coil pack plugs directly into the plug on the LS1 engine harness? Just want to be sure.

If you get an entire harness for each set to the 7 pin plug, yes it is a direct swap.

Older coils use a larger plug at the coil itself vs newer coils though
