I had stock manifolds/gutted cats (didn't know it) and Flowmaster when I bought the car. No clips of that to directly compare with. I've since switched to another y-pipe setup with an LM1 and later modified that to include another Flowmaster muffler (for my neighbors benefit) OTA on the 3" LM1 pipe... I can tell you that with the initial setup at idle, I could easily talk with someone while driving sitting next to me. With the TDs, I couldn't hear diesels driving next to me with the windows down... I have difficulty talking to someone now. Manifolds/headers/cat/mufflers, it's a total package that makes a difference. If you're going LTs and no cats, you'll have a noticeable difference. Good luck

I just uploaded video of the TDs at the track... I'm the black Camaro in the opposite lane

I love how once we're about 330' out, you can't hear his car at all and mine just keeps going and going

Forgot to mention that (thanks for asking).

Switched back to a y-pipe system because I wanted a specific torque arm which uses body mount vice trans-tail mount. The TDs would not work with the TA... IF I could have gotten it to work, the TDs would have been about 3/4" off the ground on the tail..... so that wasn't an option. I was fortunate enough that someone wanted my other TA and I did a straight swap for that I felt in my position, the TA provided better performance advantage for drag racing than the TDs.

3" dumps have way more bass in them than a y-pipe set up. so to get technical your volume does not really increase or decrease it just changes the exhaust note. generally y-pipes are slightly higher pitched and more raspy. and duals are typically more deep and bassy.

look in the sig for vids.

^^^ What he said.

I LOVE my true duals! I haven't heard anything that sounds better in my opinion. The only thing that is close to it is the GMMG cat-back. The only thing that really makes them louder than other traditional Y-pipe setups is if you have them dumped before the axle.

My custom ORY with dual cutouts is effing loud, but I love it. I think the flowmaster merge in the Y-pipe helped to reduce rasp. Also, it sounds much beefier after the cam was installed.

I believe true duals also have the reputation of resonating the vehicle's cabin quite a bit, so take that into consideration if it's a daily driver.

Duals are fine if you have them brought out the back.

Agreed...resonating is usually a factor of where the exhaust is dumped...if it's under the car and pointed down, it's going to be LOUD inside...if it's out the back and pointed back, it won't be bad inside at all...single or dual.

Some mufflers are worse than others too.
