ls1 Question
If I get ls6 cams and ported and pollished ls6 heads, would that be a good idea. I wanna get it to oer 400rwhp. I have flowmasters and a short throw shifter right now cause I recently got it.

I would go for a bigger cam but that is just my opinion. The Ls6 has like a little more duration and a little more lift I think. I would atleast get in the high 220s or low 230s but that is just me.

do you have full exhaust yet? or r u planning on it?
i would do a bigger cam as well, thats a lot of work for a little tiny cam. do at least something in the .580's for lift. but yes you are on the right track. ls6 intake and heads plus a nice street cam will get you a very stout street beater.

It depends on how you want the car to drive. For me, my number one goal when I did my last cam install was drivablity (and CA smog). I did the TR224 even split on a 114lsa, and I absolutely loved it. Just enough lope to hear, but nothing close to the surging or stalling issues people with larger cams get. Fired right up in the morning, and drove with no worries.

thats no where near full exhaust. i would do LT's, y-pipe, and flowmaster merge before anything else. then maybe a 224r or 228r. those two are my personal favorites for the street. simple, straight forward, make gobbs of torque and ive seen people that have taken 'little' cams like those and done awesome things.

[EDIT brian_rs/ss, not vetteboy] made a pretty good suggestion. The 228R can get you 400 RWHP, the 224R might do it, and the LS6 cam (02+) will probably only get you in the high 300's. Also the 2000 has the LS1 intake, so you ought to look for something better, and add some headers...
What gears do you have?

Well I went the to texas speed webstore and it lookes like I am ordering the 112 Degree 228/228 .588/.588. and then some LT's. And maybe a ls6 intake, ls6 intake manifold, and ls6 heads. And that would be good for a long time.
