Default FAST intake questions

i am starting to do some research for a H/C package on my camaro.

current mods are shown in my sig.

was planning to do a fast 92/92 setup at the same time. now i see that fast has stopped making the 92 intakes.

so is the 102 too big for an ls1 motor?? should i try and pick up a 92 intake now and hold on to it until i'm ready for the heads and cam??

would like to be around 425-450hp at the wheels after the h/c package and the intake/tb upgrade. and figured i would need to do injectors at the same time.

thanks
tony

Default FAST 102mm

Tony,

Just get the 102mm intake, out of the box is similar to a ported 92mm. Then if you must, restrict it down to the 92mm throttle body this way you can match it to your current 85mm MAF & 85mm LID.
I am running the FAST 102mm intake, FAST 102mm Throttle body, 103mm MAF on my little 346.
Yes you will need larger injectors, fuel rail/s, and TUNE

the intake will work just fine. the tuning is what will determine how the motor runs.

The larger 102mm intake will be better than the 92mm period.
The only issue I had was the FAST 102mm throttle bodys new design allows the air to enter around the throttle blade instead of the OEM style hole that is in the lower section of the throttle blade. I am unable to restrict the airflow around the entire throttle blade. My IAC's are lower than the normal standard, it will require some additional TUNE time.

It seems to me that a FAST 102mm intake with your choice of 92mm Throttle body will be the best route, since you already have 85mm lid and 85mm MAF.

if you check all the vendors you mite find a new fast 92mm.you can find them used in the classified parts .vengeance is doing some dyno testing with the fast 102 mm.you need a different fuel rail with the 102 intake ,$200.

i figured i was gonna need a new fuel rail and injectors with the h/c package anyways.

just wanted to know which combo would work best with what i have.

i saw the ads for the ftp 104 lid and tsp 100 maf. i assume those would been needed to see the max gains from the 102 intake and tb??

The throttle body size doesn't determine if the intake is too big or not. Its the runners inside that determine that. You could have a 300mm throttle body and it wouldn't matter as far as power goes. The individual cylinder runner has a set length and taper, and other things that make the intake act the way it does. The throttle body size is simply a restriction for all 8 runners.

You need 146021-kit. LS2 fuel rail kit for LS1/6 injectors. Or go with the billet kit, I might change to this myself. I have the LS2 rails on my LSXR at the moment.
