Ehhhh, to each his own I guess. I personally liked the sound. I can't get an O/R Y since I am living at home anyway, I have a catted Y-pipe, it really cuts down sound.

I have a CME so it would like **** with a giant cut in my rear bumper (where the CME tips would go). I'll probably go cutout. I mean I kinda want to save other money for stuff like stall, cam, heads, etc. Because I will end up doing that.

LS1Tech's general opinion of their performance is that if you have a Y-pipe with a good merge, a single cutout in the I-pipe can make for some gains at the track.

However, that is not everyone's experience, and personal opinions vary.

I'm not a fan of mine, personally. They got old after a couple years. I'm going to replace my setup with true duals.

Did you have electric cutouts or the manual ones?

I just did because you asked, I already knew what it sounded like. ALL cutouts sound the same. I have heard hundreds of them, ALL the same. It sounds alright for a cheap exhaust setup.

Compare that to an Xpipe w/ 1 chambers.

I used to like the sound of mine but not so much anymore. It sounds mean as hell idling with the cam and at WOT in the upper rpm's it sounds decent, anywhere in between and it sounds like ****. For some reason on the dyno I didn't pick anything up but at the track it was good for almost a mph. They can be a lot of fun though.

Are all of these your vids? That T/A sounds good.
I think both cutouts on a Y sound good as well as TD's. I don't see what's wrong about that cutout setup if I think it sounds good, you know? Sound the same, yes, but still sounds good for a cheap setup like you said. I'm not looking to go pricey so I mean TD's are really out of the picture. Right now I'm trying to deal with this then probably going with a stall later on. Pretty good mod for the auto F-Bodies

Yes, it was my old white Trans Am, Xpipe w/ Flowmaster 1 chambers. Same setup I will be going with on this car. For now I'm going to sell the magnaflow and just stick one 1 chamber on the end of the Y.

Sounds like you have made your mind up. For what you are wanting, it is the right decision. I would think about also buying a knock off 1 chamber and putting it on the end of the Y. You won't be able to quiet it down but it will sound better than a cutout and flow pretty much the same, MAYBE 2Rwhp difference. The 1 chambers are not restrictive at all, only mufflers that flow better are bullets if you call them mufflers.

I should make a video of my car as is right now just to see how it sounds right now to see if I really want that cutout or not, or any more exhaust products for that matter. What do you think about getting a dynomax bullet?

Right now I have a spintech muffler past the axle. Sportsman series. I'd post up a pic but the computer is being a piece of **** right now.

I have passed si w/o cats and my cutout closed.
I didn't have to pay anyone.I didn't know the inspector either.
I have pulled away from a stop light next to a cop with no problems.
I always run with my cutout open.100% of the time.
If someone is poking along in front of you, blip the throttle,it get's their attention. They pick up the pace, most of the time.haha

You live in Texas, thank god because now I know I can pass it with the cutout lol. Now I REALLY want one

I'd hope they pick up the pace if they heard a loud roar from an LS1 haha.

I've progressively worked my way through the LS1 exhaust setups:

1. Stock exhaust
2. Stock exhaust with Flowmaster 80 series muffler
3. Stock exhaust with Flowmaster 80 series muffler + open cutout
4. Stock exhaust with Flowmaster 80 series muffler + cutout with DMH
5. Pacesetters with offroad pipe, Flowmaster 80 series muffler, cutout with DMH
6. Pacesetters with offroad pipe, single cat in I-pipe, Flowmaster 80 series muffler, cutout with DMH
7. Pacesetters with TSP true duals with Sweet Thunder mufflers, dumped
8. ARH longtubes, TSP true duals with Sweet Thunder mufflers, run out the back, under axle.

Of all of them, I like my current setup the best.
