They do sound decent at WOT in the upper rpms. But honestly after you have ridden with a flowmaster, you might change your mind. Its a different kinda sound

TSPENCE, post up your outside vids of your car.

I have numerous friends that have similar setups and i prefer mine still. I have a friend that has single chamber flowmasters dumped and asked me to trade him setups so like you said to each his own. I love the deep agressive sound of dumped bullets. Mine isnt raspy and has a great tone.....

I like em both, but like the deepness of the single chambers better. The bullets have more of a "scream" if that makes sense. Here's mine (single chambers):

This is with the old motor (bolt-on LS1). It sounds a little different than a lot of peoples' TD's because I went with an H-pipe instead of an X. I wish I would've went X. I think I'm going to go with an X pipe when I do the Super 44's though, because the H is too raspy.

I had single chambers ture duals on my car. Sounded great when it was a H/C 346. Since I went to 427 and with a 23° overlap cam, I could no longer have a conversation with my son in the car without nearly yelling .

Just recently took out the BFH and installed a pair of Hooker Aerochambers at the rear bumper and it is much nicer. Still sounds mean; but slightly mellower and deeper.

Then there are the dual 3" electric cut-outs when I want to sound like an Outlaw car .

Your looking for the Borla XR-1s. They are one of the deepest sounding 1 chamber mufflers. I love mine

No sound clips but take my work on it. Whats that old saying......"you get what you pay for".

You can settle for flowmasters and be like everybody else or Borla XR-1s and be different.

That's why I went with Hooker Aerochambers. $71.00 each for 2.5" in/out mufflers.

New video I made earlier, with the new motor. Switching to an Xpipe later this week, and I'll put another vid up, for differences between an H-pipe and X-pipe, with single chambers.

IMO flowmaster was made for ford, I run magnaflow on mine and have no complaints. I agree on the bullets being obnoxious, but if its not a DD why not.

I had single chambers on my car done up in 2 ways and ended up with Sweet Thunders and cats.

After my long tubes I had flowmaster 1 chambers clamped onto the headers directly no H or X as a temporary exhaust. sounded really wicked but as you can imagine crazy loud and lots of resonance inside the car because it was dumped pretty much under the seats.. lol. Vid.. http://www.fquick.com/videos/Exhaust...1_Z28_LS1/3690

When I had the cash I bought some 3" tubing and welded up a TD setup dumped at the axle with again flowmaster 1 chambers no cats. I loved the sound of them and was not as loud in the car very deep and would set off car alarms at idle. The interior resonance was still unbearable. I daily drive the car in all weather as its my only car and with a 4000 stall it was impossibly to stay out of that resonance point. Another problem I had was ground clearance. I could only get about 2" under the mufflers and they got beat up quick. I ended up selling the exhaust after a short time.

Then came the sweet thunders... First setup was a 2.5" setup no cats into short Powersticks dumped at the axle. Resonance was almost completely gone, it as not as deep but I still loved the sound and because of the small size of the mufflers I tucked it all up super tight so no more clearance issues. going over speed bumps. I have a vid of that I made...
http://www.fquick.com/videos/2_5_quo..._mufflers/6216

Then I changed it again.. this time just a change to 3" pipe off the headers with a nice gradual neck down to 2.5" after the H pipe. Sound was the same I was just after a smoother transition from 3" to 2.5". Then I got tired of the no Cats smell wafting into the car when in traffic and put some Magnaflow 3" cats on which is where I'm at now and have no inclination to change it again.
