FAST 102/102 set-up on stock 346 cubes ?
Has anyone with a stock bottom end LS1 with heads and cam bought and install a FAST 102/102 set-up yet ? If so, I have a few questions :
1) Does your car feels like it has lost any bottom end power ?
2) Did you have your 102 Intake ported or not ?
3) What size injectors are you using ?
4) If you had dyno your car , how much power did your combo pick up over
your old set-up ?
I'm asking cause I'm in the market for an Intake and I'm not to keen on buying used parts. I know there are no 92/92 stuff out there anywhere. I currently have a LS6 Intake on my car from the factory . I guess what I'm really trying to say or ask is...........
5) Do you guys think the 102/102 set-up is overkill for a mild h/c set-up like mine ? mods in sig.
Thanks in advance

The 102mm doesn't loose any low end at all. Most people confuse the large size of the throttle body having an affect on low end power, and the 102mm has ZERO to do with it, its not a carb that has to have signal to carry fuel, where too big causes losses. Its a dry manifold that carries air only.
Inside the intake manifold there are runner that lead to the port of the head. These are what determine power output, and are what can be made too big, too small, too long, too short, or just right for your engine.
The throttle body just has to be able to feed the plenum and the eight runners, that's it. It only affects power if it is too small and cant give the engine what its asking for. The throttle body can be 300mm and it wont change power. Think of individual throttle bodies, that's whats inside the FAST intake. It just has a plenum and throttle body controlling the air.
I personally had the 92mm and now have the 102mm version. FAST says its worth 3-5hp over the old 92mm, the dyno results Ive seen posted here seem to show about 5-10rwhp. Another point, you don't have to run a 102mm TB on your 102mm intake. I run a 90mm on mine.
I found this, it will show you what parts you need for the 102mm.

Thanks for chimming in SweetS10V8. I think if I were to order this set-up ,I'll probably get the 102mm TB with it as well. I think TSP sells everything I would need in one package .
Now would I need a larger air lid as well ? I have an SLP Lid now.
Hey smok'nZ , Have you dyno your car and what size injectors are you running with your combo ?

I would look into the FAST throttle body then, the cheaper ones may give you a little bit of a hard time with low speed drivability.
I noticed a small hump in my brothers FAST 102mm throttle body and wondered why, since the 92mm doesnt have it. This is what I found that FAST says;
" If you open a large diameter (102mm) throttle 10%, it is equivalent to opening a smaller diameter throttle 15%. To address this, the FAST™ Big Mouth 102mm Throttle Body™ (part #54102) has a convoluted shape to help with low speed drivability. FAST™ only recommends 102mm throttle bodies with “convolute” barrels for proper drivability.
Makes sense to me, It only draw air from the top of the throttle body for the first 1/4 throttle or so. Im not sure how bad it is without it, but just passing on info.....

IAC seem to be the only issue with the FAST 102mm TB, as in they are too low on my vehicle. the design flaw with the Fast 102mm TB air goes around the blade and not through the typical center hole, the design is pretty much crap for my little 346ci
no way to block it off & throttle blade position makes no difference, too much air at idle with out changing some things around FAST let me down on this one.

No hole in the blade is a good thing. It lets you control the air by adjusting the blade, the way it should be...
Are you saying your IAC counts are too low? If so open up your throttle blade a hair. If your getting too much air, close the throttle blade.
Is your IAC working?

If you open the throttle blade more you will only lower the IAC even further.
trust me the IAC works perfect.

damn what do you guys have that needs a 102tb??? lol i talked with ron today about this intake for my H/C (stage II 243's and a TR227/224 cam) and he said a 92tb is what should be gone with, it doesn't matter what size the TB opening is because the runners are what deliver it into the heads not the TB

they will tell you that they "DO NOT " have any 92mm stuff in stock. If the 92 mm works better or just the same as a 102mm tb for a 346 LS1 ,then fine . I'll go with that . I called 2 of the top vendors on this board yesterday and both of them said there are no 92mm anything,

FAST still makes their 92mm TB. Call a vendor and just tell them "I want the 92mm TB"

sweets10v8 has explain in many threads i have looked at about all the fast intakes. He knows what he is talking about, like he said in the past and i this thread, the fast 102 intake is fine for a 346 but there is no need for a 102 tb use a 90mm or a 92mm they are out there. I just ordered a brand new nick williams 90mm tb today so they are still forsale along with the fast tbs. Good luck man you should see a really nice gain

Because you stand nothing to gain on a low HP applications. 92mm is plenty for 90% of street guys! You still get all the power benifits from the intake if you have a 92mm or 102mm.
