Correct, and it also plays apart in getting the HO2S up to temp, too! - Yes, you can hear it working, and as car goes into closed loop it shuts off.
Def not like old 1970's cars that had it basically on all the time... Back then you could gain maybe 1 or 2 hp by removing the pump, and therefore, what do you think is one of the rarest part for a 1970's musclecar restoration??? The AIR pump!
