is the 85mm SLP mass air sensor any good for stock replacement?
car is a 99 WS6 A4 w/ stock MAF and throttle body and 75mm LGM 75mm air lid.
also what type of Home depot (fenco bellows) would be required to make it work?
I can't exactly remeber think this SLP MAF had poor feedback from it's users.
Thanks

It is a toss up. Some think it improves upon the car, others think it is a detriment. Most of it just depends on the car itself and a good tuner as it can lean out your air/fuel ratio.
And it comes with a sleeve that fits over the stock lid.
Don't remember the pipe size though but a search for smooths bellows should turn something up here.

Get the 85mm one off a truck or vette. The slp one is the exact same thing except it has a pretty little lable that says SLP were the stock 85mm one just says delphi. THEY ARE BOTH DELPHI BUILT SO GET THE CHEAPEST ONE
I bought the SLP a few months ago. My dad bought a truck MAF for his ls3 build and when it got in i was looking at it, took mine off, and compared them. I was pissed. I payed around $250 for the slp and he paid $40 for his shipped to out door
Make sure you get the ecu calibrated for either one though. its worthless unless you do that

For most setup's it will gain you 0 horsepower! Also the 85mm MAF will read a higher frequency/gsec. If you have a 98 car that is limited to 11250hz then you wont want one of these because you'll max the frequency out if your pulling in close to 350g/sec of air!
Also you MUST get a tune for the different MAF sensor. The tune that is in your car is calibrated to translate the frequency of that MAF sensor into airflow. If you change the meter that tells the frequency then you obviously arent going to get the same airflow! They are alot different than the aluminum style MAF sensors!
Also the SLP 85mm is slightly different. There is a different resistor in the SLP version to make it read similar to the aluminum style MAF so it won't throw the car off as much running a stock tune. Those particular MAF sensors don't have the frequency maxxing out trouble the OEM Truck MAF sensors do.
I ran a 85mm truck MAF on both my Camaro and my TA and maxxed it out on both haha. My Camaro maxxes the PCM out at 512 g/sec and the 12,000hz frequency limit. My TA maxxed the frequency limit out since it's 98 and read's 11,250hz above 6000prm. I have one for sale with a IAT/MAF adapter harness.

im wanting to remove this "resistor" i hear about in the SLP maf because fast toys says its "scews" data and makes it difficult to tune so can someone tell me what i need to remove in the slp one please?

You desolder it with an iron. Leaving you with a $149
version of a $40 eBay truck MAF. It's the only thing
soldered to the backside of the bridge post-factory,
you can't miss it.
I had no particular problems with the '01-'02 version,
as-stock. No particular upside either.
The issue is that the resistor "bends" the calibration
to what SLP says is stock, but they have no clue of, or
don't care to pass along, a good table. "Good enough"
seems to mean different things depending on whether
you're selling or buying / tuning.
With a little care the butt of the 85mm MAF will fit in
the stock bellows. I am set up that way.
