That's probably just a fitment issue with the SLP lid in general. Fitment issues with SLP lids are about as common as a prostitute with an STD.

I found that the supplied seal that came with the lid was garbage anyway. It was just a little strip along the back of it. I'm going to Home Depot Performance to fix mine.

I would agree if the paper filter fitted poorly too.

Yeah the slp does fit pretty poorly, im thinking about getting some of that foam a/c stripping and running it along the edge because there's stuff on the MAF screen and from the sounds of it probably a fram or whatever is handy for the filter

all this bad talk about K&N... seriously guys, where do you get your info? I myself as well as MANY MANY others on here have been running them on these cars for the past 12 years with NO issues if your not a complete dumbshit and over oil the thing, or install it wrong. It's not rocket science... and all this talk about sludge killing your engine. Come on, REALLY?!?! I NEVER see a thread saying "my K&N killed my engine"... some of the dramatized bullcrap I read on here never ceases to amaze me... you guys need new material...

I agree with Soul TKR, i have never had any problems with K&N filters at all. i had a 00' and currently an 02' fbody and used K&N with no problems. But like i said, only reason why i ended up using a fram paper filter is because i was too lazy to clean the K&N.

I have run my K+N for 30k since owning the car. It was on there when I bought it. I have never cleaned the MAF until the other day and i expected it to be dirty. Well it wasnt, and it didnt get any cleaner by using CRC MAF cleaner. Proves they dont let oil through if you use them properly. I make sure to never over-oil mine.

Perhaps another debatable concept would be that if you own a K&N you can be running a clean filter all the time at the expense of only the cleaning and oiling of it, where as you might want to hold out on a paper filter till it really does need to be changed out considering you dont want to be dropping 15 bucks all the time.

I'm not really worried though either way, im just gunna drop a paper in because its less maintenence and the more car stuff i have in my dorm room really adds up when i gotta move every year anyone know the cheapest?

some of these responses are hilarious. I didn't feel the difference in a LS6 intake and a tune. you think your going to feel 5 hp?

the k&n is great for ram air cars because they have better reaction from rain or a wash.

I just don't like oiled filters, I prefer the Amsoil Filter.

I actually like Texas alot.

Here's an old thread regarding the Amsoil EaA83 air filter...
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ir-filter.html

Not trying to be a spokesman or anything, I just believe in the product.

That's what I'm saying, couldn't agree more. I tried a test at the track, couple runs with a K&N, couple runs without a filter period (superior air flow ) All the runs were the same LOL. I did that because I talked to someone in a SRT-4 Caliber who said he picked up .1-.2 and +2mph at the track from pulling his filter. That must be because the turbo though I guess? Didnt' have a paper filter to throw in the test though. I have never heard anyone complain about sludge or heard about a failure with oil filters.

Many people in the auto parts wholesale side know that K&N air filters pass more dirt-and have a much higher profit margin. Even some people that sell them won't use them. K&N is well known for a lot of hype.

Personally, I'd prefer a cheap toss away filter. It's just easier and it'll filter better with no messy cleaning & oiling. $4.10 each at Rockauto.com.

I think most people are just pointing out true facts. K&N is to exspensive, It is not worth the hasle, you don't get gains from putting in a k&n filter, they do not filter as well, the oil is messy and anoying, and it is a scam if you think about it. All these hp gains they show you that you will get. G0 to k&n sites and look at the boxes where they claim 20 + hp gains lmfao. Really should be illegal lol. I am not saying your car is going to blow up if you buy one or anything, but they are just really more of an anoyance. I ran at the track from a paper filter and no filter and gained a solid 0 tenths and 0 mph back to back to back lol. The paper filter is not restrictive.

that's fine... But the drama and FALSE info I see in some of these threads is getting out of hand. If I were a Mod, there'd be some Banning going on
