gutting cats

Any possible problem with gutting stock cats (for off road use only of course) and adding o2sims? M6 car. What kind of power gain can be expected?

Instead of gutting my cats I bought Mufflex Off-Road pipes that replaced the cats. WOW, what a nasty, mean sound. With the off-road pipes in and a cutout on my stock exhaust it sounded like a race car. Power gains were noticeable, but sound was incredible. I run pretty rich and with those pipes in i was crackling and popping like crazy and everytime the engine wound down I would shhot flames. I took them out because I have race style LT Headers. The Mufflex pipes are for sale if you're interested. PM me.

JJz28 you will have to get sims if you dont have ls1edit. other then that i think they are worth around 12hp or so on a farly stock car.

Thanks, same thing that i heard, I wanted some feed back. it pays to do your home work before jumping in, I always get good feed back on this board. I used to live in Corpus, I loved it, Kinda laid back. Lota good times there.

yeah go to ls1speed.com i think they ahve the bypass pipes on there. what year is your car? 00-02 are direct bolt in pipes (just sold my old ones) they are 2.5" and run about 240 bucks. i loved mine...
