The K&N seems to work fine for me with an MTI lid and no gasket. MTI tells me the Holley doesn't work as well with their lid as the K&N.

Point being, I don't think one or the other is a POS. It just depends on the application.

Hmm.. the Holley is very close to the same thickness as a stock paper filter.

I have the TSP lid and my K&N will not fit without the gasket.

I like the Powershot far better than my old K&N. It fits much better in my Whisper lid than the K&N did, even with the gasket....

Wilwacku, I dunno man, just tellin' you what Jayson told me. Maybe the MTI lid was designed around the K&N? Works for me.

i dyno'd both with and without the Holley and I gained 0 hp after removing it and dynoing with no filter. It must be pretty darn good flow wise and the fit is nice with no gaskets.

The LS1 is blessed with an abundance of filter area. I dynoed with and without my K&N. We saw ever so slightly better numbers with the filter in place (might as well call it a tie due to dyno variance.) But, at the track it runs better with no filter...due to the FTRA kit being able to work better without it, IMO.
