I like ATI. high quality, proven damping ability. Makes more power and is actually tunable for the RPM range you can run in. They offer a steel 7.5 and an AL 6.5 thats underdriven. Even without the underdrive they are proven to make more power by properly damping crankshaft vibration.

I believe it was the GMPP 572 crate engine that picked up over 10hp with nothing but a swap to an ATI damper. Not an underdriven pulley either just the straight swap.

OP: A problem you may encounter is damaging the threads in your crank if you use the old bolt to draw the new damper onto the crank. Get yourself a piece of M16x2.0 "all thread" thread that fully into the crank hand tight and use a nut and hardened washer to press the damper on.When this is done put your new factory bolt or preferably and ARP bolt in and torque appropriately. Holding the crank still while applying this torque can be done alot of different ways do a search. I'm not recommending it but I've seen plenty of guys with 6speeds stick it in 6th and apply the e-brake then give it hell. I think Kent Moore makes a flywheel holding tool for this purpose. It's your call.

You guys with the 25% underdrive having charging issues at stock idle?

Did any of you swap in a smaller alternator pulley?

I just found two cracks in the rubber isolater and the outer part spins about 3/8-1/2" back and forth. It's an ASP pulley but it's also about 8-9 years old.

SDPC, I'll be placing my order for a Powerbond pulley in the next couple days. What's the part number for an 99 Fbody?

Another that attests to the ASP. Ran it on my car for over a year, no problems with temp or battery (no alternator pulley). Good performance. Can't wait to put another one on.

When you look at it is it worth the money for the HP gains.
Most UD pullies are around $300 or so dollars for a few HP maybe 7rwhp.
It will make your water pump run slower and thus your fans will be running constantly specially in stop and go traffic.
I can keep going if you want. Alone reason 1 should be enough to deter you.

They make really good paper weights and that's it.

Hell get a bigger and better maf, or get a good TB and don't forget you are going to have to do the alternator pulley also.
Dude where did you get your info If you're getting jsut a crank pulley, that has no effect on your water pump.. Ohh and btw. the stock MAF is goo up to 500 HP...

They make a stock diameter damper for the F-body FEAD as well.

I'm swapping my ASP 25% underdrive for an ATI as soon as I can.

The kit description says this kit includes "the SDPC high performance 8740 reusable balancer bolt". The bolt I recieved doesn't look like the one in the above picture. Is the bolt I recieved a high performance reusable bolt?

Thanks for any input,

The only reusable crank bolt I know of is the ARP crank bolt, I'd call SPDC about the bolt.
FYI, the ARP reusable bolt is about $20, the one time GM bolt around $5..

We have an ARP style reusable bolt as well, so we offer the GM bolt, our reusable bolt, and the ARP bolt. In the pic of my engine above, that black 12pt bolt is the SDPC bolt.

I have used ASP pulleys and Powerbond. Both seem to work well. Make sure to get an ARP bolt.
