99 SS TB Bypass. BMR kit or home depot?
Hi guys,
Since I am gonna change the plugs, replace air filter, clean the MAF and clean the TB, might as well do a TB bypass. I am in socal, so no worries about getting too cold here.
I did the tb bypass in my lt1 by going to home depot and autozone.
Should I do the same now or just buy the bmr kit? what do you guys think?
Sid

a piece of tubing is like $1 dude.. I'm not sure about you but it sounds like a good investment for $1 to lower the temps of incoming air by not running hot coolant through the throttle body... maybe its just me though

Its been a while since I've done mine as well, but I believe I used 1/4" Fuel Line.
And don't for get to pickup a couple small worm-style hose clamps. (The ones you tighten with a screwdriver.) They provide much better clamping force than the pinch-style the factory uses. This whole mod shouldn't cost more than $2-$3.

I'm really, really tempted to set up some thermocouples once my ported TB comes back just to prove the bypass mod has absolutely nothing to do with performance - it's just an engine bay cleanup mod.

Yeah OZs to LBs and all that. but we're not class racing here
If you wanna do it that's fine, I did it when I was new to this stuff. It's not anything that's going to be felt.
I don't wanna **** in anyone's soup. I had fun doin' all the little next to useless mods I don't wanna discourage anyone else from doing them

Eh, it's something to do when you're bored, and it cleans up the engine bay a tiny bit.
I've been meaning to do mine, I just haven't gotten around to it. I'll do it, along with the EGR mod, whenever I get around to sending my TB out to get ported.
