Each setup is different. So what might work dependent on setup on one car might not work on another unless the entire system is the same.

I have ARH LT's into cats then into an I pipe into a Magnflow catback and I still had rasp-even with the ARH cats.

So I added two bullet Magnaflow's behind the Magnaflow catback muffler and it eliminated rasp completely. IMO sound almost like true duals.

I went through 9 different exhaust setups trying to get rid of the rasp looking for the right tone. Everything I tried sounded like **** (raspy) after I took the cats out but then I got true duals and all was right in the world.

What's the deal with these cars without cats? I've had an LT1 Vette and Formula 350 both with no cats and they both sounded great. My WS6 sounds like ****.

It's the firing order. Different firing order needs different exhaust to sound "cool."

A friend had a 5.0 Mustang way back when and another friend and I loved the sound. Friend #2 buys the same exact mufflers for his LT1 Camaro and it sounded like @$$... all because of the firing order. The exhaust guy even told him that before he put it on.

Funny part is my Thunderbird has no cats and sounds great - but would be way too quiet for most people on this board which is perfect for that car. My TA on the other hand...

The y-pipe design can't handle the increased flow from removing the cats ,but once I took it out the specific noise that I hated was gone so take that as you will.
