I have a 3" ORY on my GMMG and I don't think it's that loud. There are MUCH gnarlier set-ups in my area that make mine sound like a hybrid. But again, my car has stock internals and that contributes a lot to it's lower noise level.

I think that has a lot to do with the size plate you're running in it. Still though, fully capped probably flows pretty well.

I think my GMMG flows well..

When I had my cam installed I was running a 3" TD set up (O/R H and 1 Chambers) car mayde 415/378 CAM ONLY (228/232)

Then I went back to my 85mm MAF and 42# injectors tuned, by this time I had switched to my GMMG c/b (see sig for exhaust set up) and with the same cam, car made 419/382

Well im getting the non-adjustable one, so im assuming the is just fully open all the time. Is that correct?

IDK much about Borla but I would assume there would be no plate meaning it would have to travel through the muffler completely so it should be quieter.

No plate is louder, it goes thru the plate on that tip side before it makes it to the muffler. Almost like a cutout. See pic plates go where the 3 bolt flange is.

I think he's talking about a non-adjustable kind that doesn't have the same tips with the cut-out in it. If it doesn't have the cutout at all it would have to go through the muffler and it should be quieter. Wait; I didn't know Borla made that kit non-adjustable...lol

I was under the impression that the plates restricted the exhaust, so i figured the non adjustable would just have no plate causing it to be louder and flow the best. (sorry for the thread hijack)

You can see in the pic that the built-in cut-out is a bypass from the muffler. If it wasn't there (like you're describing) it would go through the muffler making it quieter.

what about flowmasters? good? Bad? I have the 50 series on my car with stock manifolds, magnaflow high flow cats, then straight piped to the flowmaster, then out through a CME.

I love the sound of my dual/dual and it flows very well. I picked up very little with my cutout open on the dyno.

Brandon, the non-adjustable Borla flows throught the muffler. There is no cutout in it. My Dad has it on his SS with stock manifolds and it sounds amazing.

i've got a 2 chamber flowmaster on mine with no cats, just got it dyno tuned yesterday by latemodel racecraft here in houston and asked the guys about possible power loss if i added high-flow cats and ran no muffler.

fwiw, and i can't verify this with dyno numbers yet, they said in their experience a flowmaster will eat more power than a set of cats.

wow. I'm interested in seeing what it is. I have true dual magnaflows without cats, running 2.75" pipe from the manifolds to the mufflers to the tips on my C10. Sounds pretty good, but I think the camaro sounds better.
