Thunder has a conversion kit with the valley cover, hose, gasket, bolts, and new hose.

"Used a PCV" as in it had a PCV built in? Why would the new one not have that... and if you get a new one, is it still necessary to get an external PCV valve?

Thats why the catchcan is built into the valley cover, to catch the oil mist before it gets dumped into the intake.
ARRHH ARRHH thats not really true....thats at idle....at part throttle and WOT the gases can flow out both hoses. It depends on how much crankcase pressure you develope.

Thanks, I see it. Found it on TR for $170. Seems reasonable and should fit just fine under an LS3 intake.

Well I don't know about the specific PCV valve on the newer set-up but obviously a PCV prevents backflow down that particular hose that its installed on.

170$ ?? i got mine from scoggins for waaaaay less......the previous style used a pcv in the hose to the intake.......the preforations in the new style act as a catch can within the valley cover.......so no need for a external pcv...........still not sure on which way air flows in the hoses.......previous to the LS6 vc install .........oil mist (gunk) accumulated in the TB from the valve cover hose which indicate that air flowed into the TB......have not looked at the TB since the install of the LS6 vc

I guessing the LS2 valley cover the same design underneath as the LS6? So, you're saying with this you don't need a catch can? Just trying to clear things up.
Thanks

here's another pic to help your cause 01ssreda4, I'm with you bud
This is how mine is setup on my LS2, but its the same as the LS1/6 with the LS6 valley cover. For a LS1 you just need to block off the rear fittings.

With this newer design valley cover, is it still necessary to cut/grind the interior of the LS1 block to allow it to fit?

The cut in question is here:

Yes you can block off your two rear connections, HOWEVER, I think I'm going to run one single line between the two and connect them. Is this needed? Probably not. Will it hurt? Probably not. And actually I would think cutting one piece of hose would be simpler and quicker then blocking the ports off.
