Default Difference Between 98-99 and 00 Headers?

I know that the only difference(I think) is in the EGR tube. What exactly is the difference? Can the 00 headers be modified for a 99? Thanks.

98-99 have the egr and air tubes in a different position then the 00 headers. 00 has the air tubes the same as the 01+ and its own egr setup.

you can modifiy the pipes or just buy the headers and !air/!egr.

I did to a search and got nothing. You basically repeated what I said. How does the EGR tube need to be modified? Bent, shortened? Ect... And removing the AIR and EGR is not an option by any means. Thanks!

Default 98-99 headers

Hey Fer,
Our 98-99 headers are inferior to the 00-02 headers. The 98,99 have the drivers side which is a log design and the passenger side is more of a Y type set up. The 00 headers have provissions for the EGR setup but you would have to use the 00 EGR tubes. Also you need the 00 Y pipe and cats from what i understand. I am considering upgrading my 98 manifolds to the 00 EGR set up. I think it would be a cheap upgrade as compared to a set of high dollar headers. I searched and have found many LS1s going in the high 11s and low 12s with stock 00-02 exhaust manifolds. It just seems that the 00-02s are always running 3-4/10s faster then the 98-99 cars, so it has to be in the intake and exhaust manifolds. I also searched to see how much difference in power can be had from upgrading from factory 00-02 manifolds and with stock heads and cam, i seen were cars only picked up an average of 12-14hp and tq. That gain to me is not worth 1000 bux. Sure a good set of LTs will help out with future internal upgrades but at this point having a fast low 12 sec street car is my goal.
