100mm maf vs, 85mm maf
ok let first off ask if any one here is running a 100mm maf from tsp, lingenfelter, snl, or a ls7, ls3, or ls9 card style maf and what have been some problems that you have ran into using these mafs?
second as the title states i know the obvious that 100mm and 85mm is significantly different, have to get that out there cuz there are some people's kids out in this world and think they're smart.
third is would using a 100mm maf be beneficial besides the obvious size difference for my set up: 96mm intake/96mm tb, f13 cam, stock heads, 1 3/4 lt's with 2.5" true duals. using my intelect, im saying to myself that using an 85mm maf will restrict the intake and tb which is going against the whole reason why i went larger. so would a 100mm maf be beneficial for this setup or would be ok and leave room for future mods such as better heads. thanx for any input

It's unlikely that you will see a meaningful pressure drop
across a descreened 85mm. Sure, even less on a bigger
one. But nothin' from nothin' leaves nothin', like the song
goes.
A more important question is, are you gonna buy one that
provides you a reasonable cal-curve and will give you the
data you need to make a decent starting tune. Delphi is
a known quantity. A big GM MAF you may also be able to
snag some data for from modern stock tune files.
But if you've got your eye on an aftermarket piece, and
they can't be bothered to tell you the detail freq@flow
of the thing, let 'em pound sand.
If you want to know how much HP you're leaving on the
table with your present piece, that's pretty easy. Scan
it and figure (BARO-MAP)/BARO*100% at the big end. That's
what percentage you would gain if the MAF was the only
remaining inlet restriction (it isn't, so sandbag some for the
air filter & plumbing) and the new piece was sheer perfection.

huh, so pretty much a descreened 85mm maf isnt going to restrict the larger diamater tb and intake bore to such a significance to be recognized compared to a 100mm maf and plumbing, or in other words using a 100mm maf isnt going to change much from using an 85mm maf.
any body else have any other input with instances to back it up.
