Default Quiet True Duals???

What bullet mufflers would be the quietest on a dual 3” X set-up, I am obviously not looking for a stock sound but want something that sleeps? What you guys think?

im not sure as far as mufflers go, but if youre looking for quiet definitely put in some hi-flow cats, they muffle the sound quite a bit

According to this comparison
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/119518-muffler-flow-db-comparison-hooker-maxflow-bassani-real-street.html
the Borla Pro XS mufflers would be the most quiet/sleeper. Next would be the Hooker Max Flows and Magnaflows. I found the Pro XS's for $85 each, but you'd have to PM me for the link since it's a non-sponsor site and I can't post it.

Just so you know the Hooker Max Flows are 4.75" thick. I've seen them on an F-body and if you put them under the car before the axle the ground clearance will literally be 2". All of the other mufflers are only 4" thick.

I have an incredibely quiet system, even with my cam. Here it is:

all mandrel bent 3"
Hooker longtubes, no cats
12" Dynomax bullets before the X-pipe (no restriction with these mufflers)
16" Moroso Spiral-Flows after the X-pipe
pipes under the axle and tips out the back

The main thing, IMO, is getting the pipes out of the back. I would say this setup was about as quiet as my offroad Mufflex y-pipe and Hooker catback. The duals just sound much nicer and meaner at WOT.

I have some pictures on the website that is in my signature, but I don't think there are any pictures of the car with all 4 mufflers. There are no fitment problems with the 4 mufflers though.

Eldebrock RPM muflers. They are around 3.6" thick, & quiet, until you get on it. This is what I run on the car for the street, then switch to a bullet for the track. Check out some pics in the sig. I think I have one showing the ground clearance.

The dynomax super turbo will probably offer more sound reduction than most.

Turbo mufflers suck. They arent quiet at all and are restrictive. According to the dynomax website the true 3" muffler is 5 1/2 inches tall and only flows 550cfm. THe 2 1/2" muffler is 4 1/2" tall and flows 450cfm.

The straight through mufflers flow much better. The 2 1/4" mufflers out flow the turbos with 700 cfm. For comparison a good 3" catback flows 2000cfm. If youre gonna go through the trouble of getting duals you dont want to bottleneck the power with crappy mufflers.

Do you have any clearance issues? My car is on the Eibach Pro Kit; almost 2" lower than stock.

I did not have any clearance issues at the stock ride height. I would not run any dual exhaust system if I was lowered 2". I would stick to a catback system.

the quietest setup in my opinion without sacrificing flow is to use the 18" bullets. That's what I have going all the way to the back under axle. And car sounds very quiet at idle but roars under WOT. My main concern was annoying sound and vibration and this is the solution without affecting flow.

The 18" bullets are newones from dynomax and are 2.5" diameter.

I've heard that Borla XR 1's on a Speed Inc custom true dual out the back exhaust system on a heads/cam car. Very quiet. I recommend them.
