I need to call and get a price for the system and stepped headers.

That's a good excuse... *scrape* Opps... Time to order another one..... Kinda funny sounding in a way.

Gotta redo springs and shocks too. THEN I'll be ready for the exhaust. So figure around mid summer.
Well, if it makes you feel better the quote I got from Maryland like a month ago was only like $50 cheaper than another sponsors advertised internet price. I was not impressed. So if MS is out, another has them for only ~$50 more.

Finally getting my setup to a good spot. It has great ground clearance but I'm at stock ride height currently. I'm looking to take part in the koni/bmr deal thats going on before the sale is over but I'm starting to worry if i'll have enough ground clearance with the pipes that are after the DSL.

it looks pretty good but i'm not sure what it'll sit at after being lowered.

I've been having the exhaust worked on to have my stock cats swapable with some race pipes. I'd of just gone with the kooks catted setup but theres too many horror stories of aftermarket cats failing left and right around my area so i had my stockers modified. Heres a shot of the drivers side race pipe. I'll throw up some more pics later when theres more light out and i have more free time.

This setup is breathing from my APS kit. It definitely quieted things down (previously setup with dumps after down pipes). Still sounds mean though with the race pipes in and now I have the added benifit of actually being able to hear my twin megasonic BOV's purging. What a sound

I'd like some honest opinions. I've done sthis before and I know it's worth spending money on a quality system like this. So if you guys could please help me out would be great.

1) Is this True Dual 3" system overkill for a fairly stock LS1? Or how does it compare to a standard cat back like Magnaflow etc?

2) Ground clearance with full system (LT's, Y-pipe and cat back) lowered with Eibach Sportlines? Any body have this system installed with these springs?

Thanks and let me know, MS quoted me a killer price with the BMR parts if I can get these answers I'm ordering!

They are good on strano spring which is like a 1.5" drop. These do out flow any y pipe and help even a barebone stock ls1 you wont regret it.

With just a bolt-on car your not losing much on a y-pipe setup with a proper merge vs duals. Main reason would probably be for sound quality. I'm lowered 1.25" and have ~3" of clearance. Sooner or later I'll scrape since I did with my old kooks y-pipe setup a couple times.

its well worth it on any ls1 imo...it gets rid of that 2500-3000rpm rasp ls1's are known for having. After the true duals install I have absolutely no rasp at all... just pure clean sound minus the bullshit!! This is how ls1 f-bodies should of came from the factory.

^^^ I agree....it's really weird driving with no rasp at all. It's actually gonna take a little getting used to after 8 years on my old setup.

OK, I used to have an LT1 4th gen, and my 69 runs a true dual so these last two comments have made up my mind. Going with this system 100%, thanks for your input guys.

Good news, my tuner was able to get my whole setup to pass emissions on my modified kooks setup. Here are some shots I took today as bolted things back up.

This is on my 02 TA w/ the APS Twin turbo kit. Made 606hp/639ftlbs dumped (prior to me getting this exhaust) but I'm sure i'm not losing much if anything through this exhaust. I'm sure some of you are wondering why didnt i just get the kooks with the race cats. As I mentioned in one of my other posts the race cats have a horrible success rate around my area so I decided to have my stock cats modified into my setup. I'm happy with how everything turned out. I dont know a whole lot about welding (something I'd like to change before too long) but I think the welds on everything came out pretty damn good. There arent too many TIG welders in my area but luckily the one I went through does good work.

Yea I wanted it to be as easy to swap as possible and V-Bands seemed to be the ticket. Kept it all stainless too so it should last as long as the rest of the setup.

So after a couple hundred miles of driving I have noticed a "spitting" sound coming out of the tips...also noticed some carbon/condensation leaking out of a clamp by the x pipe. Im wondering if I should change to a different style clamp then the ones supplied by kooks? Any suggestions?? Thx!

^^ 3" stainless dynomax lap joint band clamp (33272) from Jegs. I swapped out all but two clamps to these and they work great. I had horrible luck with the clamps provided by Kooks. These have a hi-temp puddy on the inside of the clamp that spreads out over the seam when tightened.

Buy them from Jegs E-bay and they will be a bit cheaper either on the price or shipping, I can't remember.

NICE!! I didnt know they offered a band clamp with putty inside around the seam. I had these type of band clamps on my lt1 car and they leaked slightly aswell, but there was no sealant or putty in them. I tried using ultra copper inside inside the clamp, but it still leaked a tad. Thx
