Default do you need to use 02 simms

i'm going with longtubes and an off road pipe and am just curious if you need 02 simms. Will they affect performance if you don't have them or are they just for the SES light?
thanx

You might want to clear that light just in case something really does go wrong. If you don't clear the light, how do you know that it's the o2's and not something else...

As stated above...you will get the SES light, and yes that will get annoying. O2 sims will remedy that or a tune job with LS1Edit can take care of the dredded SES light. The biggest problem I've encountered with the setup you've described is the ugly rasp the exhaust produces with LT's and no CATs. Good luck!

No you don't need 02 simms.... Get LS1edit

For the rear O2 set "Error Mode = Type X turn off" for the following
Hardware Diagnostic Codes:
137 138 140 141 157 158 160 161 420 430

No need to use O2 sims with this setup. No need to toggle "Does error set SES" with these codes set to "type x"

Couldnt you also get the codes checked and someplace like Auto Zone that does free readings and use that to make sure that you arent getting something else? I am installing headers soon...but waiting on hptuners new pcm editor. I want to go ahead and install the headers, because if it just throws the light then i can deal with that for a few weeks. I figure o2 simms are a waste because im removing egr and air too, so those will set codes, so no sense in wasting money on something that wont take care of everything, and its also something that will all be taken care of once that new software arrives at my doorstep. Please share your thoughts/comments...

Get them if you aren't going to get a tune. If so, really just a waste of money. Try to buy them used if you want them. It will save yourself some money.
