Default Intake manifold options? VicJr vs FAST

Why do these FAST intakes have to be so damn expensive? Apparently the PP Typhoon isn't the way to go and it will be leaving some power on the table. I've been doing some research on this and I was JUST about to buy it as soon as my LS6 intake was sold.

How does the Vic Jr or Super Vic intake perform compared to the FAST intakes? This isn't a full out drag car, so I think having the VicJr will kill some low end power due to the operating range of the intake. I am looking for a 90mm+ size TB and capable elbow. My cam runs from ~2000rpm and has pulled steady to 6800. I will have to do the rod bolts to continue seeing/pulling 6800 rpm. I just found the full kit for a VicJr intake with a 102* elbow that will fit a 90mm TB. Can I have this hogged otu to fit a 96 or 95mm TB?? Sheet metal elbow that will fit under an SS hood? What sponsors carry elbows?

BBK doesn't make a 90+ intake (IIRC) so that's out..

This intake debacle is pissing me off and I JUST passed up a Mamo 90, but with the difference, it's not that much anyway. Sell the LS6 intake and that's $300 to start with. What's the probability of me getting a 102 from a sponsor for under $800?? (Military, and a tech member possible discounts)

I would leave the Vic jr alone unless your cam is designed to work with a single plane.. Those intakes need a tight lsa (108-110) & alot of overlap.. I would keep your ls6 intake & have TPIS fit a 90mm snout on it or just keep looking for a good deal on a new or used Fast 90-92mm.

Dang it all... Looks like I'm gonna end up taking the hit for the FAST after all.

I've already sold a couple parts. TB is sold and the intake is off and for sale.. I just figured I've got all winter to get this done..... But I don't want it taking ALL winter. And my cam has 110* lobe sep, but only 5* of overlap.

What is your set up and what's your numbers,if you have a chance to get a fast 90 ported by tony jump on it,it might be some cash but is well worth it,a fast is always gonna be better but what's your setup,ls6 is a pretty solid intake,I plan on getting a ported fast 90 down the road ,but with your setup you might only gain a lil bit going with the fast,I don't know there is a big debate over the fast some think its not worth it others do,I know there better and a fast ported set up is gonna work good with my combo ms4,prc227 heads, shifting at 6800,I heard the ls6 intake falls off around 64 ,6500.if your mods are in your sig I can't see it on my phone,I kinda look at it this way if you are done with mods then yeah the last piece I would get is a fast, but if your still need things like rearend ,heads, etc I think your better off putting the money towards those things and getting the fast later on,I agree^ with mm98 on the victor set ups

^ Well, I/m running some Wheel2Wheel P+P'd LS6 heads right now (apparently they flow pretty decent) and a PatG Tq cam at 224/228 .637 .639 110 5*. Shitty SLP LT's, 3" ORY and TSP rumbler 3" CB. LS6 intake with a ported stock TB from SLP (Sold)... Put down 414/372 at TSP and 403/381 at sea level running rich. It needs a retune, but the intake and TB are definitely choking this cam back. I kn0ow I need an ENTIRE new exhaust (Gonna do the Kooks LT's thru their new dual setup some time in 2011) and I was advised that the AFR 205 heads would work perfect with this cam. I'm looking to get some good numbers out of this cam seeing as PatG made 460rw with it, but that was with a NICE setup. I'm looking for 440rw out of it.

My tuner was telling me to quit messing around with the LS6 intake and get a FAST 102 (reccently) and said the SLP LT's aren't helping either. it's a reall shiitty collector design and the Y-pipe is a bit crushed... So the ENTIRE exhaust is getting replaced eventually. -Would LIKE to do it for the spring, but I don't think I'll be able to dish out $2200 before spring in addition to the whole intake manifold (ducting, MAF, rails, FPR and injectors) replacement.

Just a lot of money and a good amount of work I WANT to have done by May 2011.

And the Mamo 90 was for sale for $700 with some defects. Here's my math:

LS6 intake sale for $330 and that would leave me with $370 remaining I have to come up with JUST for the intake. (Keep in mind I have a truck payment going through right now)
So if I get the TSP special of a 102 and TB for $1100 that's still $800 difference INCLUDING the TB which was not in the Mamo deal at ~$350 for the TB, so $800 minus $330 is $470 still... It's still going to run me in the neighborhood of $450 out of pocket to get a proven intake. The PP Typhoon was only going to run me around $100 out of pocket and that was including rails, fuel lines, gaskets and hardware. I guess it doesn't perform as well.

So Mamo would have run me $370 out of pocket w/o the TB
TSP 102 w/ the TB would be ~$800 out of pocket.
Minus the cost of the TB ~$350 and that leaves $450.... So I'll be paying basically $80 more for a brand new intake that is bigger to begin with (NOT counting the TB.)

There is a hugh post on this subject right now. searching does help, try it. NOW,when i removed a stock l76 intake for the vic jr. I did gain 13hp on the peak but lost 50ft tq down around 3,000 and 12lbs tq on the peak. It lost low hp but picked up around 5,000rpm's. In all it kills tq that makes the car move but added some hp. Get a fast intake. Try to find a used 90/92mm and you will get better results for a street car/strip car.

Id say go FAST 102. It will outperform anything other intake retaining that runner design. They go for a lot cheaper on ebay either brand new or used (dyno pulls).
