i dont open the engine section hear much. i remember why.
people need to look around and do things them self, and try stuff. not just read about and think its a fact. And copy what someone else thinks about something.

SLP lid quality is junk? How did you break a SLP lid???? But a FTP is stronger I've never seen a "broken" SLP lid in 10+ years, you can bend the tabs over, stomp in it, and it will not crack. Maybe if you freeze it, or melt it it will break.

you know the blackwing is SLP you say is the best, but there lid in the worse?

The only thing with a SLP lid it people dont have them installed right.
1- Have a TB spacer, N20 plate
2- solid bellow that is pushing the lid form installing all the way, and you need to trim it.
3- filter not fitting right, K&N, the Ebay copy, and some other high flow one are thicker. I dont use them, some fit better without the tray but then it dosne seal right. Or the filter gasket is to dry and or sticky, some guy amoral them and that stick to the filter gasket. Or it just a 100K dirty *** car with road water grim all over. Clean that **** off, It helps on some cars to put a little oil on the filter gasket so the lid slids back nice.

If you look at the front of a SLP lid the middle between the clips goes inside behind the lip on the lower airbox. Not in front (the lid need to slide back more) and not stacked on top (filter it to thick) Don't just force the clips closed, you will bend them. And if the rear tabs are pooping out its not back all the way, AND the filter it too thick.

I dont even know how many other lids are made right now, if you can get them? no Mti,stelth, gms,TR,LG,fttp, motorsprotsperformace, wisper. ther was alot back them
SLP you can get easy, and a FTP cant think of any others?

^^ Just posting my personal experience as I've owned all 3. The tab snapped on my SLP lid within a month on my garage queen that only sees 500 miles a year. Only reason I said the FTP lid was better is because it has lasted a lot longer than the SLP I had.

Have you ever owned a blackwing lid? Yes I'm well aware its made by SLP as I bought one new years ago and its an OEM quality piece...the two are made completely different. Just like the stock lid but flows better.

This is correct, I've owned both. I like the bigger lids because they match bigger TBs and MAFs, and not as many people have them. No question on quality, my SLP was tough as nails. Slam the hood on a ftp and say bye bye. I also had to adjust my hood to keep it from rubbing. Overall I'm happy though.

On the non-WS6 cars, how would the performance of a stock shaved lid differ from the SLP lid?

I have the ftp 98mm now and it always has pewter powder on it from making love with the hood. Other than that its been good so far. Could be made stronger IMO.

Whenever I had my old WS6 I had a couple of SLP lids, an FTP 98mm lid, a Blackwing, and a Whisper at one point. All fit perfect, none of them ever cracked, all felt the same on the butt dyno, etc. Just go with what fits your appearance taste, which for me in the end was the FTP

Anyone buy a slp lid for ws6 store? it says its the new design. Anyone try the fitment with ss hood? Ive been doing a lot of research and it seems that some lids don't like ss hoods. Im stuck between slp and mti clear lid. I ve heard the mti fit bad and crack easily any input on these two lids and their fitment?

I have an SLP lid with an OEM SS hood. Not sure about running yet but I know the lid rubbed the stock hood. The fit of my SLP lid is great though as far as sealing.

Can anyone name the lid I have? Bought the car used and don't know about the lid.

Id like to replace it with an SLP unit this spring.

just judging off the texture of that lid, looks like a ftp lid with the sticker removed. if it was smooth to the touch I would say MTI but looks like FTP to me due to the glossy coat and crinkle texture

just get the same size air lid you have now, slp brand, used. there's no sense in doing anything else if the only mod you have is a cam.
