Just a thought but if all the intakes have the same performance than why not get the one that weighs less.

I had the k&n intake on my old car and didn't like it at all, it looks good and is good quality but the intake temps are ridiculous. While waiting in the lanes to run a the track I would see 140-150 degrees on my intake temps on days that the temp was around 75. Even by the end of the 1/4 my temps would still be at 115. Maybe if they made an enclosure to separate it from the engine bay it wouldn't be so bad. I'll be sticking with a lid setup on my current car.

I found mine on ebay that came with a K&n filter for $70 I think? The lid itself didnt have a name brand but it fit just fine.

I saw the article in GMHT a few years ago but can't remember the clear winner...but I do remember there was one. I have been searching since then for the article. A little help finding it please? I have not been able to find it on their site either. HELP! The article should put this thread to REST!
I have had the MTI clear lid. It looked GREAT (for a short while) scratches VERY EASILY! And I did not take long before the rear tabs to crack!!!

TSP was "the" bandwagon lid long, long ago. Not saying it was bad (I had two: regular black on my '00 SS and smoked on my '01 Z28). I have SLP on my my '02 SS, and I like it the best as far as fit and quality go. With that said, it did not fit quite right with the paper filter; however, once I installed an Airaid [dry] filter, it fits better than my TSP lids had. Add in the fact that the SLP lid is very affordable, it is a great option for essentially anyone.

Old thread but I'm building a 408ci 6.7L LQ9 and upgrading to a FAST 92mm and BIG MOUTH TB. I currently have the LS6 intake Manifold and I bought the $350 K&N intake for it. As it only fits a 72mm TB what intake should I roll with? I don't want a lid setup, more open like the K&N

Funny... I just searched this thread earlier today because I'm looking to do the opposite; replace the K&N with a lid.

Any reason you're sticking with the K&N? Most here say it robs you of power due to IATs.

I honestly can't tell the difference in power after i already did the Head and Cam install with my LT. One of the posters had the box that surrounded the filter from the bay and Maybe that would help with the IAT. But after spending 360 for the intake and not even having it for 8 months I just wanted to keep it. But the rubber tubing it came with only fits my stock TB which is 72mm. Upgrading to the Fast I see this a problem in the very near future for me as I'll have my new block by next week.

hawks lid fit perfect went on perfect to the stock maf for me. dont think it took me more than 25-30 min to take stock lid off car & install the hawks (very easy - no fitment issues, having to heat up lid or anything like that). Myself & and many others agree & will tell you no 1 lid makes more power than another. a lid is a lid - choose whichever you like. the Hawks was $90 free shipping brand new & fit/installed with zero issues.

OEM blackwing here which is still in great shape, not sure if other lids free up more power but I have no desire to swap it out.
