that sounds like a good alternative. I think a wiremesh sandwiched between chickenwire would work really good. a few layers of that at the top of the can and the rest will drip down as it accumilates.

 

i have mine under the passenger headlight. Everytime i change my oil i drain the can. easy access through the trap door and my Mike Norris can has a wing nut on the bottom to easily drain.

 

I'm a fan of a green brillo pad on the inside, myself.

 

mine is under the passenger headlight,and the bottom screw is easily accessed under the car,it sticks out like a half inch below the plastic.The farther from the engine you can get it the better.The cooler you can keep the can the better it will condense the incoming air/water/oil

 

was was wondering about the green scratch pad. does it deteriorate over time or does the oil help to preserve it?

 

I just change it whenever I drain it. They're like a dollar for 5 I think
