Default Tuning issues with fast 102

I've read on here that there have been issues with the fast 102 and the 90mm tb. I already had a fast 90 tb so I was just going to use it on my 102 intake. Has anyone had any problems with this yet or do I need to go ahead and get the 102 tb also

^ Apparently the tuning issues were from the first style throttle body. It was flowing a bit much air at part throttle. FAST revised the TB to add a bit of a "bump" at the bottom off the TB to aid in part throttle operation and better street manners. THe earlier TB's were essentially an on/off switch. But with a 4" opening, it does take some getting use to. -Mamo was telling me that.

It also depends what MAF you are running. I went with an 85mm MAF with my 102/102 setup. We'll see. Apparently the smaller TB's will be somewhat of a restriction, but this will flow a little more air over the sensors which will make life easier on whom ever is tuning the car to see fine changes in air passing by the MAF.

Well I'm not sure if my tb is a early version or a late but knowing my luck it is probably an early. I'm also thinking of going speed density to save a little cash and not havin to buy a new maf. I have only heard bad things about aftermarket maf sensors. My car is not an everyday driver. So I guess my question is would going speed density help or hurt the tuning characteristics of my fast 102 and 90tb setup?

So do you think I should keep my 90 mm tb or upgrade to the fast 102 for my tuners sake. I'm going speed density with my 90 mm lid and after the motor build there's not a whole lot of money left but if there is more than a few hp left on the table then I will have to weigh out if the 102 tb is worth it right now or not?????

Just keep the 90 for now. It will work fine. Just wait a little bit to get the 102 TB. You can get an eBay 102 TB for around $210 now. Looks identical to the FAST design.

If you're on bolt-ons, leave the 90. If you're running H/C or larger cubes, go with the 102.

And you don't really NEED to go SD. I've read a lot showing that the MAF works quite well on our setups. Just leave it until mods dictate you ditch it. (high power levels) Just keep checking the classifieds for a MAF. I got my 85mm for $75 shipped.

Talk to Mike Norris or search for V Max. They have made an adapter that fills the transition from the 102 intake to a 92mm T/B. I would assume the 90 would work too.

Mike said V max found using a smaller throttle body causes turbulence behind the T/B which effects driveability.

Here's a link to a thread where people have tried them. I talked to Mike last week and I will probably pick one of these up if I stay with a 92mm T/B.
