unless you feel like replacing the bottom half of the ssra all the time at like 150 a shot, dont get it

i know 3 people that had the ssra, all three of them crushed or ripped the bottom piece off in less than two weeks

FTRA and no problems. I felt a little boost but I have no idea about the actual numbers.

Tell your friends to pay attention to what they are doing. I have had my SSRA for 1 year, and have had zero problems

it doesnt really have to do with paying attention, there are certain places that i drive every day that no matter how slow or what angle i hit it at i hit my air damn, including my driveway.

the ssra hangs almost as low as the air damn and is placed in front of it, i wonder what would get knocked off first

Did you just buy the extension for the FTRA? It's welded aluminum.

Wrong-O man, it hangs half the length down, and much further forward. I have had no problems at all, no scrapes, and some nice gains. The only thing I can think that could harm the SSRA is hitting it when pulling too far into a parking spot, it becomes second nature to stop short with the car. With it placed further forward you have less chance of hurting it over bumps and driveways. It is an actual scoop/duct too. All the air that comes into my engine comes from the outside of the car, through the scoop (Thanks to sealing it off and that is included in the kit). You can't get that at all with the FTRA, and the SSRA is better constructed. I like it, and can feel a nice top end gain, and keep in mind, this is a true cold air system.

SSRA

the free mod is nice, but the FTRA and the SSRA have shown good results at the track, so there has to be some sort of ram effect BEFORE 200 mph

check this out: https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/138682-ssra-now-available-without-scoop.html

the SSRA is now being made without the scoop, similar design to the FTRA except its not metal (no heatsoak), and it doesnt block the radiator as much as the FTRA. i think that is the way to go.
