Default exhaust sound

So a buddy of mine told me that a big cam will make my exhaust louder. Is this true

Well currently I have a 232/228..603/.598 110lsa cam. Car seems quiet with true dual x pipe over the axle with dynomax bullets. Been thinking about stepping up to a ms3 cam. So that would make a noticeable difference

If you want it louder just dump the exhaust right before the axle tubes.

Get dual cutouts and all Hell will break loose! If your goal is to scare old ladys, set off car alarms and make babys cry, that'll do it!

Since you already have a nice size cam w/10* of overlap, going to a MS3 isn't going to change anything much. The MS3 has only 5.5* more overlap then you current cam.
IMO the answer is in the exhaust system, try replacing the Dynomax bullets with either straight pipe, or SLP resonators; that will make it louder!

Quieter than a cutout at Idle, but about just as loud at full throttle.

Turning it so it doesnt bounce of the pavement or wheel directly will help, dumps will be pretty loud but not as much as a cutout. Like 99blue said the ms3 shouldnt be that much more different i dont know why you want to switch but i wouldnt if i was you

Since you're considering a larger cam, what intake & TB do currently have, and I would still stick with a 110 or 111lsa for better low-end power.
Consider a custom grind w/CompCam LSL lobes:

#13019, 235 @.05", w/.621" lift, w/1.7 rockers
#13020, 239 @.05", w/.624" lift, w/1.7 rockers
#13021, 243 @.05", w/.624" lift, w/1.7 rockers
#13022, 247 @.05", w/.624" lift, w/1.7 rockers

IMO, If you really want to step up to a larger cam I think a 239/239(17* overlap w/111lsa) or a 239/243(19* overlap w/111lsa) with either a 110 or 111lsa would make you happy!
