Custom CAI
Looking for thoughts on cai setup I've been working on, still being mocked up so ignore the tape lol. Think I'll have any overheating problems or anything? As it is right now ALL the air coming in will be from the front but I will be opening up the whole grill area & covering with something similar to a billit grill.

looks good but it won't really pressurize that much do to it not being sealed up just to the intake...but all the added alumin should help the radiator get plently of air...
I would close off each air filter facing the front grill...like a small individual air box for both...it will give you the added hp by turning it into a ram air setup as well as a cold air setup

Yes, I thought of that too but I also figured only so much air can get through the MAF anyway & the tubing is still .5" larger in diameter than the MAF. I know theres larger sensors available but haven't seen too much on them & what I did see required other things to be done at the same time that I'm not ready ($$$) to do.

I really like the look of it, but i'm wondering,.......unless the area that contains the filters is totally sealed and allowed to turn into a "ram air" type setup,(which would be hard to do with gaping holes in the front) this is essentially another form of "cold-air" induction??? am i right? If so, i would be hesitant to toally seal off the radiator only allowing the incoming grille air to feed it, as the system was designed to be fed from the bottom of the car. Now i could be wrong, but, i would definetely be prepard to modify your front scoop to switch over to allow the back/bottom are to open up, and just have the side scoops there, or toally remove that and leave the pieces on top. Very nice design and work though....Might be the next "user made" cold air to be sold by the sponsors. I would even be willing to just try the radiator support piece, and the dual snorkel setup. I do beleive that although you are going from 2 to 1 inlet, that the dual snorkels...due to placement in the airstream....will benefit you with fresher/cooler air than a single relying on indirect flow.

Thanks for the compliments,
I think I'm going to take chris1313' sadvise & make a sheild on the back side of the filters to direct the air better.
ZYA LTR-I am also prepaired to cut a slot at the back of the bottom peice to allow the air from underneith to come in, but I want to test it out first.
I know as far as cold air into the TB its going to be much better than what I had, I was using the K&N setup & its design pretty much seemed to block any air from getting to it.

You get bored and feel like making a spare radiator cover, lemme know, i can have the tubing for the filters/TB fabbed up, but i like the looks of your sheetmetal cover for the radiator.

That's what I was thinking, my friend has a RX8 and got a CAI kit and we had to take off the front bumper and bumper support to install it. And that has to be done when you replace/clean the filter.

Thanks guys, actually there was a change in plans at the very front on top, access to the filters is pretty easy. Don't have to remove the nose or anything, just take one panel off & it just clips on, don't need any tools.
In the intake tube there are no part #'s, I made it.
