Take the block numbers to the dealer. They can tell you what the motor is and what it came out of

I have an LS6 block that does not have 5.7 printed anywhere on it.

Well I am going to head back over there today after work and try and bring home the mystery engine. Although I am still wondering about the heads on my motor, has anyone ever seen these casting?

Do a search here. About a year ago a guy who works for a core shop got a prototype lsx engine in his facility.

Had strange things about it that differ from a production ls1. Different heads...way different looking.

EDIT:

Might want to watch where you are advertising that you have a prototype block. As a matter of fact, I would have this thread removed. That is GM property that is supposed to be destroyed and never leave the proving grounds. Making it public knowledge could turn inot a very big headache for you.

Why? You think GM is going to bring their legal department in and litigate the matter? What "damages" did GM suffer? What trademark/copywrite violations did the OP perform?

GM doesn't care, thats why it was for sale for $600 from some guy who got it for free.

^ It may have been something that was going to be dismantled and scrapped. So someone took it. I'd pick the seller's brain and find out if there was anything he was told regarding this and possibly more info on where he got it from.

It's been over a decade since that LS1 came out, so I think the engine is pretty much common knowledge now.

If this were 1997, then he may have a problem.

I agree this isn't a big deal now, I am just "speculating" it's a prototype, someone could have just wrote/stamped it on their crate motor to make it "cooler' but in the mean time I still haven't figured out how he made head castings never seen by the public before...lol Turns out the valves are missing and so are the rockers and pushrods, the lifters are in there and the heads are center bolt, I thought the early Ls1s had diffrent valve covers? Either way I am not looking for some 243 or 799 heads to throw on top of it and a tr224 cam and I cam going to run it!

GM read this thread, abducted OP, confiscated the engine, and sent him to the fishes. RIP OP.
