Default msd coils!!

if you have them. tell me what your thoughts are.. summit racing gave such a good deal. an they look awesome.. (msd) has a add on for these coils about out.. which plugs into the extra port.... im happy with them so far.. they power 8000 horsepower nitro cars.. why not let msd spark my ls1!

They look nice and thats all they do. I bought them for my LS1 when i first got my car, worst $600+ i ever spent on my car, that's money you could have spent elsewhere on your car, you won't gain any power, and they will probably go out on you before to long. when i built my new engine i ditched the MSD coils real quick for stock LS7 coils.

if better coils dont make a difference why are people swapping truck coils?

i noticed better throttle responce in my car when i installed mine, people can say what they want, i am very sensitive to subtle changes in my car, i even notice its a little slower when i change the oil as the oil is thicker..

i'm not going to get in a pissing match, do a search. The MSD coil are discussed all the time on here, and it's never anything good. I'll admit i bought them and they were the biggest waste of money ever, hence why i got rid of them, lucky for me, none of my MSD coils went out on me like the dozens and dozens of members on here who have had problems with them.

anything msd is a pure waste, there plug wires are about the obly good thing they make. There distributors are garbage, and there coils are about the biggest rip off item you can buy for an f-body.

Because 1 guy made a post of gains nearly 2 years ago and even though it has been called BS by sponsors and people who have tried them, the cattle keep marching to graze on the "greener grass" on the other side of the fence.

Faster after a waxjob too?

^ The truck coils (And MSD too I would think) would be good for a more reliable spark and better idle. Some stock LS1 coils have issues with a miss-fire in the higher RPM ranges. Truck coils would be the more reliable option though. Same benefit for a lot less. And I've read on here that the MSD coils don't last long. That's prolly why the nitro cars use them. They run them for a couple races and throw em out.

Pretty sure MSD Pro Mags power the nitro cars, not coils.

Carry on.

Looking good, thats it though... Waste of $$$

I've read the thread of the truck coil gains. I've read the thread too where a sponsor tested it and zero 0hp gains. I think they were having some issue with em too.

Dyno, these days..

^^^ right? I was wondering what that "extra plug" was when i got mine 5 years ago. and they are just now coming out with what ever the hell goes in the "extra plug".

I haven't had much luck with MSD wires, 3 sets over a period of 5 years.
I will never buy another MSD product, unless it a distributor or ignition system on my 78 T/A, MSD is a complete waste of money on LSX's
anyway OP..... Thanks for the break down of all your MSD products
it's your money to waste, and it's your car, so, as long as your happy right?
