Default is it worth the money?

My 99 z28 is all stock except magnaflow exhaust.

would it be worth the money to buy long tube hooker headers and tsp y-pipe..i really dont know how to put any on so i would need to go to a shop.

i called around and they said they can do it for 500, + 50 bucks for dyno and HP Turners.

yea longtubes and ory are one of the best things to do to your car at this point other than maybe a lid and the free mods. I don't know about 500 for the install, i paid 200 for mine to be installed but it was a guy that i knew and I've never used hookers either but alot of people have good luck with pacesetters mine has the TSP 1 7/8s.

I would not pay 500,it is kinda a lot of work that's why most basic shops will tax the crap out of you, maybe see if there is a ls group in your area and maybe one of them could help you out,or do it yourself, with all the write ups its pretty easy, but header installs on these cars are a pain,

i dont have any tools to get the job done or a lift to make it eaiser...

one guy is saying that its a waste because the headers are making it for a dual exhaust, but then when i add the y-pipe im just restricting the flow again which is going to decrease the help from the headers

not true...plenty of people run a y-pipe up to 5-600 hp. yes its only as strong as its weakest link but a single 3in tube will flow plenty.

headers are a great mod. you can get it done with simple hand tools. i would put the word out on tech here and find someone to do it for you, 500 seems pretty expensive. but on the other hand 50 bucks for hptuners and a dyno is a damn good deal...

NO that is totally false. A aftermarket Y-pipe is gonna flow WAY better than the stock y. Absolutley go with the aftermarket y pipe.

Are they quoting you $500 for the instal with the dyno tune included?

if its a reputable and youre unable to install them yourself id pay them. quality work is worth paying for then having to pay twice or more for **** work.

plus shops tend to hook you up with small stuff to keep your business.

Hook up with your local FBody guys, someone will help you.

Buy them some beer and pizza and get a Frost tune and you still have money left.

Or buy all the tools and a jack and stands and get a Frost tune your still ahead money wise and own the tools.

Plus you just modded your own car and can say you did it.

If you have some basic mechanical skills you could do it,its really not that hard.

It looks intimidating but remember thousands have done it themselves and saved the $500.00.

I am one of them.

Be sure if you buy hooker header to check for holes at the collector. I had a horrible time having to remove and reinstall my headers because the jack *** at hooker was lazy and did not weld the collector very well..... just some food for thought. but if I was to do it again I would go with TSP headers and there y pipe
