Search it up on here and you will see many problems caused by this.
Also chances are that if those were the original o2's in the car they probably need to be replaced anyway they usually on have a life span of 60,000 miles stock and even less with lt's. O2's switch slower as they get old and being further from the engine with the lt's causes them to operate even colder this is another reason why new o2's are recommended. Get new sensors theyre cheap insurance, you can get the denso ones for the post cats of and 02 vette ($35 bucks each) and they will have the longer extensions already on them for your headers, or you can repin the pcm to use the rear harness fro the front o2 sensors or finally you can just get new camaro sensors and buy extensions (not the most economical idea).
I don't see how a properly spliced, soldered and sealed wire can cause any more resistance than o2 extensions. If anything, I would think the extensions with the extra connectors would cause more problems, rather than a properly soldered wire.

Mercury: previously in the thread I mentioned I already had an off road y-pipe of unknown brand.. I simply had it modified it to work with the headers. Exhaust shop didnt do a very good job but it works I guess. I will snap a couple pictures soon

Alright, I know it's taking forever and I apologize guys but I am trying to get all the info everyone has requested.. I will be going to the track tomorrow night assuming it doesnt rain to get some new numbers from the header swap.. July 6th we are strapping it down to do a dyno tune and then I will take it back to the track on the 8th for new numbers again.. I wish I could have had it dyno'd before the headers but for me $ IS a factor...

Ok guys.. I was a little disappointed with the track tonight.. I can honestly say, and back it up with video, that the car just couldn't get the 2-3 shift tonight.. I hit the limiter 2 or 3 times before it would go into 3rd.. I am guessing its because it hasn't been tuned yet and its making a little more power.. or its screwed and the tranny is on its way out.. anyway, with no further delay I can happily report I went from a best of 8.53@83.52 on my last visit to a new best of 8.34@85.97 with ONLY the long tube headers.. I didn't change ANYTHING about the car at all except the header install.. I made sure I went with the same amount of gas as well so weight should be almost exactly the same.. same tire pressure, almost identical weather conditions too.. HUMID as HELL!!!

The best part was a brand new 5.0 showed up.. I laid the smack down pretty bad .. He was pulling consistent 8.7's@85mph.. By the mph I can tell the car needs a driver mod but I can also tell I have the stronger car.. My friend in his 00 Z28 M6 was giving the 5.0 fits all night long.. They probably ran 6 times and won 3 a piece.. I raced him twice and CLEARLY beat him both times.. I will upload videos to YouTube tomorrow and post the links

Sounds like the 5.0 was in serious need of the driver mod!! Those cars are pretty potent, they have been clocked as low as 12.8 @ 111 bone stock down to the air filter!!

I have seen that they are also putting down ~410WHP with just an intake and tune!!

Pretty impressive IMO.

Congrats on the races though, however it sounds like you need a tune or possibly a trans!!

First video is my best run of the night.. 8.34 @ 86 and you can clearly hear the 2-3 shift having problems right before going through the traps

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BX7fkjeQ_M

The next two are racing the 5.0

This last video I was just being a dick.. I gave my friend in his Z28 M6 the jump to see if I could run him down.. piece of cake

Did you ever end up having any issues with heat? I saw someone mentioned using stock heat shields on them, any pics of that?

I admit they do produce a signifigant amount of heat but I really dont think its much more than the stock manifolds.. I do know that they cool down FAST though.. I pop my hood at the track and it doesnt take too much time before you can touch them.. I did not use any heat shielding

Not bad and nice gain but what altitude are you at? Im yet to install headers (got some pacesetters just gotta order texas speed y pipe and extensions) and im running about the same times. Car has SLP lid and computer tune only other than a built trans and stock converter. If you got that kind of gain i may be looking at 8.1's or so with stock converter and these slow *** 2.0 60' times.

I bought these same headers. I too had the long EGR tube fall off. for the price no big deal. I used the y-pipe from Texs Speed and it fit perfectly!! Been on the car a year now and really like them.
