I've been thinking of installing mine that way, I really don't feel like taking it someplace to have it welded in.

the pipe fit into place butt joint style and the clamps over them. i honestly thought there was going to be a leak but those clamps really sealed well. i haven't lost any ground clearance from the cutout motor as well.
not even kidding, including jacking the car up it took about 15 mins to install the piping/cutout completely. and another 10 or so with the wiring ( did that on a separate day)
Is the switch full open and full closed, or can you open it say halfway for just a little more noise?

the location i put the cutout is right next to where the wire comes down out of the hole under the seat.
I forgot to ask...you're running the stock exhaust? I keep reading the stock I pipe is 2.75"...I'm thinking that's ID? I have a 3" QTP cutout (I just measured it and it's 3" OD), so with the 3" OD clamps, everything will fit together the way you have it?
Originally I was thinking my 3" cutout was big enough to slide over the cut ends of the stock I pipe, meaning I'd need lap joint clamps. That's not the case?
Thanks for the info, I just want to make sure I order the right stuff.
Oh, and how's it sound with the cutout partially open?
I'm thinking I'll run mine closed on the highway, then partially open the rest of the time for a more agressive tone...and fully open will be scaring pedestrians or track use....but mostly scaring pedestrians!
however my friend put a 3" cutout on his suburban the same day, and his pipe was 2.75". they used a different kind of clamps and it works, so if you have band clamps it should work. my pipe wasnt cut correctly so i was worried about having a leak, but those clamps seal extremely well.
it sounds pretty good all around, by comparison when its closed it almost sounds like a regular car lol. Since the cutout opens quickly, just a little tap would give you the small opening you desire.
i thought about putting a turndown pipe, but i think i'm just going to put sound deadener in the car.
