I will say this, I have about 8" of straight pipe before the MAF and that can make all the difference of straightening the incoming air.

so its either buy an aftermarket or leave it alone? if i were to be running a h,c,i, full exhaust 418, how much could i gain oging to a 100mm vs stock

At this point in your build, leave it be and use the stock. If you do that build "418" a GM 85mm MAF would be more then enough. There is only a few HP to be gained when stepping up to larger MAF and that ult depends on the supporting mods. Don't beat yourself up of a MAF. Use your stocker for now.

For example, I put on a 85mm MAF and 98mm Fast Toys lid after my EPS cam swap and only gained a couple HP over my stock set up.
