Default One cutout vs Two cutouts??

Alright so I just recently bought headers and I want cutouts to go with them, but i'm not sure whether two cutouts after each header or....one cutout after the Y pipe would be better? HP gains? or sound? I want it to be as loud as possible when i open those suckers up...Any suggestions or pictures would be awesome. Thanks guys

Do you have cats? If you don't than one cutout is more than likely plenty. Also what kinda cutout to you plan to run? Don't get the cheap banlanz ones from ebay they leak like a bitch!

From personal experience 2 cutouts after the headers will be louder then 1 after the Y pipe, but even 1 will be extremely loud. And from all of the dyno graphs I have seen there is no difference in HP or TQ

If you have a cutout after a badass merge it seems like there would be some kind of scavenging gain.... or should I put down the crackpipe?

+1, if you have them at the collectors it will be raspy and in my opinion annoying. Having 1 cutout at the back is loud, but it has more of a tone to it. If needed, I have some videos I can post of my car.

It may be slightly quieter than that, but not much.

I would suggest DMH brand cut-out, its what is on my car. If your going with single after Y merge, there is a nice little spot under the rear passanger seat area... just take a look you'll see it.

I was going to do a search on this very subject!
I asked the folks at QTP what they would recommend for my car. I also have QTP LT headers w/a off road "Y" pipe. They suggested I go with a single 3" elec. cutout. I was thinking it would of sounded better with 2 vs. 1. But I don't have any experience using them.

Neither will sound good. Doubt there will be any power increase with 2 instead of 1.

I have 2 on mine because I have dual exhaust with no crossover. I seriously thought about adding a X or H pipe recently, but my research found a lot of people who didn't have one and added one that found zero to insignificant gains.

I have two on my ls1 s10 just after the cats. I would say move them back a ways. Mine is way too loud imo. Further back, will give you a better tone.

DMH are very high quality cut outs. I have one that is 6 years old with over 200,000 miles on it and it still works perfect. Dave (the owner) is a great guy and has taken good care of many of my customers that I have sent him over the years. DMH has a 4 year warranty too.

One cutout here under the passenger seat. Loud enough imo.

the thing that most people do not do is there is enough space right off the y to put a 12in bullet style muffler before the cutout. Doesnt hurt the flow any at all but take a lot of drone and rasp out.

If you have the money I would go with two. While doing exhaust work on my car I ran it with both open headers and an open Pacesetter y-pipe, open headers sounded WAY better. You will be getting as much power as possible with two vs one too.

Right now I have TSP headers, ORY, and Borla adjustable with the cutout in place of the adjustable plate. IMO the best setup for a cutout; it's retardedly loud(as in makes ears bleed loud ) behind the car with it open but not all that bad inside, nowhere near as loud inside the car as having one under the car is. Pretty quiet with it closed, louder than any car with just a catback but not near loud enough to get pulled over unless you go WOT by a cop.

This is true. I was actually going to attempt this. It wouldn't fit unless I put the cutout at the axle bend. I DID eliminate all of the rasp by putting a 3-4" Flowmaster merge.

I disagree my single cutout just after the y-pipe sounded pretty good. It was loud as hell without cat's though

Now you guys got me thinking again lol...Could someone define "rasp" or "drone"? I just don't fully understand what your talking about with this.

Or maybe post a video as an example? thanks...
