Told ya you should have went with a merge to... :p

Anyways you can go with a flowmaster merge, or try a magnaflow one that is all 3" http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-10798/ stainless to if that is an issue with you.

If you want to run a flowmaster 3.5" you will need a 3.5" to 3" reducer.

i have the flowmaster merge with the 3"-4" collector and i just used my old SLP LM1 resonator, cut one of the sides off, and used it to run all the way back (about 16" and then in to my Magnaflow cat back. gives the exhaust time to stabilize before putting it in to a smaller pipe.

You got rasp eh? Lol sorry I couldn't resist.

I had the same problem with rasp when I did my headers. Just got the Magnaflow merge 3" in 3" out and it solved the rasp when I put my foot down. Only thing I wish I could change was the rasp when I let off. I think adding a merge would solve yours since you already have a muffler in the I pipe. If you look up the GMMG rasp exhaust thread, you can get a good idea of how the Y pipe and merge is routed. I took one of those pictures to my exhaust guy and said I want this and he made it happen.

I was thinking about getting the TSP Stainless headers with their ORY.

Looking at the pictures of the ORY, it looks like it has something similar to the flowmaster merge already on it.

Does anyone have any experience with their ORY and rasp?

The only thing i may change on it before I install it would cut the pipe comming off of their merge, change it to a 4 inch (looks smaller in the picture) bring it back to my cat back, then go back down to the right size.

Just want any ideas on thier y pipe though?

Thanks

I found that the best thing to kill the rasp was cats. My old set up was kooks stepped to high flow cats to flowmaster merge to an open cutout just before the muffler. Sounded great and even without a muffler no rasp.

I've seen that the cats work great. I wanted to try to do it without cats one to save money and keep that muscle car smell.

I may end up going that route though, I have I believe a lm1 on the car now (on it when I got it, and no cats...through a dealer)

Just finished installing the TSP y-pipe in mine - have Pacesetter headers and the Pacesetter y-pipe = horrible rasp. Cut out the 2 1/2" reducer in the TSP y-pipe and welded in a 3" pipe to keep everything the same all the way back and it's a HUGE difference in sound and the engine sounds / pulls much smoother. Hopefully will be able to put up pics tomorrow.

Look in the dyno section at my thread and the one JonCR96z posted. We just made new y-pipes with better merges and posted our pictures in the threads.
This really changed the way my car sounds.

Did you guys do your own merge too?
Did it eliminate or nearly eliminate the rasp?
Was it hard making the y pipe?
And any videos of the exhaust sound?

Just working on figuring out what I want to do exactly...hopefully getting some long tubes here in the next few months.

thanks

Get a Vibrant Performance merger(T304 Stainless Steel), it'll match the quality of the Kooks headers.
You can get it in a 3" in/out(pt#10360), 3" in/3.5" out(pt#10361) and a 3" in/4" out(pt#10362), plus there hand ported inside the collector for smooth, unobstructed exhaust flow..
Here's the Vibrant I put on my BBK y-pipe.

How well is that one with drone/rasp
...I see you have a dumped and have the borla xr1 too....should be better than what mine would be with the loudmouth...needless to say though the loudmouth will go if it has to, want to try to get the best sound out of it first...then try new things if I dont like it

It has a bit of drone from 1100-1500 rpm, no rasp.

It eliminated all the rasp in my car.It was terrible and I had shorties on it.When you go to long tubes and get an off road y pipe with a good merge it will make a big difference in the way your car sounds. Mine is a lot quieter with no rasp. Making the y pipes was not to bad.I don't have any videos other than on the dyno at wide open throttle.

That does look nice, but for $124 it seems like it's a little much for a merge.
